Sensitivity analysis is used to find the key variables which have significant effect on system reliability. For a product in early design stage, it is impossible to collect sufficient samples. Thus, the probabilistic-based reliability sensitivity analysis methods are difficult to use due to the requirement of probability distribution. As an alternative, interval can be used because it only requires few samples. In this study, an effective global non-probabilistic sensitivity analysis based on adaptive Kriging model is proposed. The global accuracy Kriging model is constructed to reduce overall computational cost. Subsequently, the global non-probabilistic sensitivity analysis method is developed. Compared to existing non-probabilistic sensitivity analysis methods, the proposed method is a global non-probabilistic reliability sensitivity analysis method. The proposed method is easy to use and does not require probability distribution of the input variables. The applicability of proposed method is demonstrated via two examples.

The article presents a comparative analysis of heat release rate in a spark-ignition engine powered by various fuels as follows: butanol, gasoline, a mixture of butanol with tire pyrolysis oil (TPO), and mixtures of butanol with oil from biomass pyrolysis (BPO). Selected combustion phases were analyzed. Additionally, ignition delay calculations were performed in the ANSYS Chemkin Pro program for the surrogates of the tested fuels. Popular surrogates quoted in numerous publications were used as substitute fuels. The paper presents an original surrogate of oil from tire pyrolysis.

Content available remote Are beetles good indicators of insect diversity in freshwater lakes?

The study verifies the usefulness of aquatic beetles as an indicator of biodiversity of a simple ecological system. Detailed analyses were carried out at the elementary level for the purpose of determining the significance of correlations between the biodiversity of Coleoptera and other groups of aquatic insects in single samples. The relation of selected taxa to selected habitats of the lake Wukśniki (north-eastern Poland) was also investigated. Moreover, the possibility of application of biodiversity surrogates, i.e. higher taxonomic units (genera and orders), in the determination of biodiversity was examined. A significant high correlation was determined between Coleoptera and the total remaining taxa (RR – Remaining Richness) in samples collected in the entire lake. The correlation has the highest value at the species level. The complementarity analysis reveals that the percentage contribution of Coleoptera in the overall biodiversity of the lake is similarly high at the species and genus level, and substantially lower at the family level. In accordance with the hypothesis, aquatic beetles can be used as indicators of the overall biodiversity of insects in the ecosystem of a mesotrophic lake. Biodiversity surrogates, i.e. higher taxonomic units (genera and families), can be applied instead of the species level.

The agriculture on the territory of present-day Poland constituted a supply of the raw material as well as energy source for German economics during both world wars. A large-scale undertaking, carried out with determination and with variable effectiveness. Some of the actions of the time resemble those of today's Europe. Indeed, the reasons for them may be different, nevertheless, they are still based on agriculture.
