Modelowanie powierzchniowe stanowi jedną z najtrudniejszych dziedzin związanych z technikami tworzenia modeli. Poprawnie opracowany model powierzchniowy musi spełniać wymagania zarówno pod względem funkcjonalnym, jak i technologicznym, a dodatkowo powinien mieć odpowiednie walory estetyczne. Zagadnienie ciągłości powierzchni jest więc istotnym aspektem w tego typu technikach modelowania. W artykule zaprezentowano podstawowe informacje z zakresu zagadnień dotyczących kryterium ciągłości oraz omówiono wpływ ciągłości na własności aerodynamiczne modelowanego obiektu.

Surface modelling is one of the most difficult modelling discipline. A properly developed model must meet functional and technological requirements and additional design look. Because of that, the surface continuity aspect is so important in surface modelling. The paper presents basic information on the issues related to the surface continuity criterion and presents the influence of continuity on the aerodynamic properties of the object.

The paper presents new theorems about characteristic curves on the surface used as a shape smoothness diagnosis tool. First, general principles of examination of characteristic curves, treated as contour lines of a shape function, are presented. Two subsequent sections deal with properties of two most popular characteristic curves: equigradient lines and reflection lines. The theorems presented there are a theoretical background for evaluation of the surface continuity via of examination of these type of lines.
