The influence of the size of ferrochromium grain on the surface composite layer forming process

The aim of the researches was to determine the influence of the size of high - carbon ferrochromium grain (which was used to make the pad) on the quality of the composite layer on the steel cast. This kind of cast was obtain by pouring the mould with the pad placed on the chosen surface with liquid metal. As thick as possible composite layer without any defects and discontinuity was required. Both good quality and required thickness of surface composite layer depend on many factors. The pouring temperature, module of cast solidification, size and shape of the cast are the most important ones. The suitable graininess of pad material is also significant parameter. The conducted researches allowed to take the suitable graininess of the pad material which improved the quality of the surface composite layer.

W pracy przedstawiono kilka aplikacji przemysłowych wykorzystujących technologię otrzymywania powierzchniowych kompozytowych warstw odpornych na zużycie ścierne. Opracowaną technologię wykorzystuje się w odlewach pracujących w trudnych warunkach eksploatacyjnych, które wymagają wysokich własności mechanicznych, przy jednocześnie wysokiej odporności na zużycie niektórych powierzchni. Opracowana technologia powierzchniowych warstw kompozytowych pozwala na otrzymywanie ich na odlewach ze stopów żelaza i metali nieżelaznych.

Casts operating in tough conditions are required to have high mechanical properties, with simultaneous high wear resistance of working surfaces. Obtaining simultaneously of the high plastic properties, serwice life and wear resistance within a single casting is difficult or just impossible. Developed technology for obtaining of the alloyed composite layers on iron and copper alloys castings is apply in many branches of industry production.
