Chalcopyrite concentrate leaching using sulphur-and iron-oxidizing bacteria

It has been demonstrated biological leaching of chalcopyrite concentrates obtained from ,,Polkowice" mine KGHM Polska Miedź S. A. It has been found, that the copper bioleaching yields was more as compared with that observed in the control samples. The higher yields of bioleaching have been obtained when earlier washing and neutralization of alkaline components of concentrate were used. It has been found that the bacteria tested tolerate Cu(II) concentrations up to 4,0 g/dm3 and are susceptible to a higher concentrations of this metal ions. Investigated was also solid phase remained after the chalcopyrite concentrates leaching.
