Studies on the hydrolysis process of titanium sulfate compounds

The influence of the initial concentration of TiO2 and iron in the solution and the storage period of the solution containing the titanyl sulfate on the degree of the conversion of TiOSO4 to hydrated titanium dioxide and sulfuric acid have been investigated. A commercial solution of titanyl sulfate from the installation of titanium white in Chemical Plants ,,Police" S.A. was utilized. It was found that the degree of hydrolysis, at the initial stage of the process, was markedly dependent on the studied parameters. Whereas the degree of hydrolysis in the final stage was fluctuated within a small range and amounted to 94 - 96%.
