The article reports the diachronic, statistical and linguistic research of Polish military oaths' linguistic forms and resulting conclusions of axiological nature. The author defines the specific characteristic and social-communication function of the texts under research. He presents – expressed by main parts of speech – variables historically: soldiers' values, principles and virtues being the pillars of military morale and ethos. He examines old and new military oaths' lexical and grammatical structures. He estabishes factors of vocabulary understanding and attractiveness and texts difficulty and also evaluates their functional effectiveness.
