Content available remote The monitoring of a substrate strengthened with concrete columns
EN
The process of interaction between the ground and screw displacement columns (SDC) in transferring loads has not yet been sufficiently investigated. This paper presents the results of pioneering tests in this field, carried out with the application of a long-term structural health monitoring system.

Proces współpracy pomiędzy gruntem i kolumnami przemieszczeniowymi (SDC) w przenoszeniu obciążeń nie został dotychczas wystarczająco zbadany. W artykule przedstawiono wyniki pilotażowych badań w tym zakresie, przeprowadzonych z wykorzystaniem długoterminowego systemu monitorowania.

Structural health monitoring systems (SHM) are used to gain information about the work of the structure under real operating conditions, i.e. taking into account the material heterogeneity, geometrical imperfections, cooperation with the subsoil, boundary conditions, real load schemes etc. Design and development of SHM systems requires interdisciplinary cooperation and often individual approach. Today, to build long-term systems we use, among others, vibrating wire gages, whose design allows for measuring various physical quantities, for example strains, linear and angular displacements, stress or pressure. Such sensors perform spot measurements. However, it seems that the future of structural health monitoring systems is closely related to the application of optic fiber technology, which allows for the measurement of various physical quantities continuously along the optical fiber length. The article presents examples of SHM systems recently implemented in Poland and the outline of laboratory tests associated with application of the latest technology.

The paper presents a first approach of the structural health monitoring (SHM) system, dedicat-ed to marine structures. The considered system is based on the fibre optic (FO) technique with Fibre Bragg Grating (FBG) sensors. The aim of this research is recognition of possible practical applications of the FO techniques in selected elements of marine structures. SHM and damage detection techniques have a great im-portance (economical, human safety and environment protection) in the wide range of marine structures, es-pecially for ships and offshore platforms. The investigations reported in this paper have shown major poten-tial of FBG sensors. They are suitable for strain–stress field and load monitoring of the wide range real structures used in different conditions. The FO sensors technology appears as very attractive in many practical applications of future SHM systems.

Content available remote Analiza zmian temperatury stalowej konstrukcji mostu przez Wisłę w Puławach
PL

The paper presents results of the temperature measurements of the steel bridge in Putawy over the Vistula River. Measurement data were obtained from the construction monitoring system which is the one of three subsystems of which the monitoring system is composed to measure various physical quantities. Presented data refer to period of time from May 2009 to April 2011. Based on the gathered measurement data, the ranges of temperature changes, extreme values and differences between the values for specific types of the elements were analyzed. The differences between various types of the elements were analyzed as well. Presented data give the overview of the temperature level of the steel bridge with mediate localization of the deck. A comparison of selected values with normative values in Polish code (PN-85/S-10030) as well as in Eurocode has been made.
