Some samples of belemnite rostra of the Middle-Upper Jurassic age, analysed for strontium isotopic composition were preliminary examined by cathodoluminescence technique (CTL). CTL detected in some samples diagenetic changes to a different degree - from low to almost completely recrystalized by diagenetic processes. Changed and non-changed parts of rostra, samples of matrix (part of rock surrounding fossil) and secondary calcite veins occurring in some samples were analysed individually for strontium isotopic composition. Results show that only diagenetically non-changed rostra are suitable for strontium isotopic stratigraphy.
