The paper presents a review of the methods for determining the pressure shock wave propagation velocity and water hammer pressure in high-pressure thick-walled conduits, taking into account the geometry and the ways of hydraulic installation mounting, as well as the physical properties of materials. To simplify the calculations, characteristics determining the effects of material and conduit relative thickness on the pressure shock wave propagation velocity were made. The paper also describes a method of strength analysis of conduits that are part of high-pressure hydraulic systems, based on the matreial munimum criterion.
