The paper presents causes of dependences mechanical losses in electric machines on voltage. The attention has been paid to the effect on the non-load power losses in induction motors of the radial and axial magnetic pull as well as asynchronous torques produced by higher harmonics of magnetic field spatial distribution. In Fig. 1 an effect of radial and axial magnetic pull is shown. In chapter 3 an effect of parasitic asynchronous torques is studied and in chapter 4 additional losses are discussed. In conclusion author drawing attention to the complexity of the problem how to determine and reliably separate the no-load losses.

The paper presents the calculation of the basic and additional core loss of the small size induction motor supplied from the power network for 50 Hz, and by a voltage-frequency converter for the frequency changing from 0 to 250 Hz. The calculations were made by use the field - circuit method, as well as by use known from the literature circuit methods. The calculation results were verified by measurement. Calculations were performed using the measured characteristics of the specific core losses of the electrical sheets as a function of the flux density and frequency.
