Quantum computing and related quantum technologies are cur rently at the forefront of research and development activities in many aspects of today’s high-technology industry, from advan ced quantum algorithms and fundamentals of quantum com putation and communication through the physical realisation of quantum computers and cryptography to quantum sensing and dedicated electronics. Warsaw University of Technology intends to lead in several aspects of this revolution. This article will report the overview of several ongoing activities at WUT related to quantum technologies. In particular, the Research University - Excellence Initiative program’s strategic activities and the physical quantum computer infrastructure creation will be introduced.

Obliczenia kwantowe i związane z nimi technologie kwantowe znajdują się obecnie w czołówce działań badawczo-rozwojowych w wielu aspektach dzisiejszego przemysłu zaawansowanych tech nologii, od zaawansowanych algorytmów kwantowych i podstaw kwantowych obliczeń i komunikacji, poprzez fizyczną realizację komputerów kwantowych i kryptografii kwantowej, aż po sensory kwantowe i dedykowaną elektronikę. Politechnika Warszawska zamierza odgrywać wiodącą rolę w kilku aspektach tej rewolucji. W artykule zostanie przedstawiony przegląd wybranych aktual nie prowadzonych na PW działań związanych z technologiami kwantowymi. W szczególności przedstawione zostaną działania strategiczne w ramach programu Uczelnia Badawcza - Inicjatywa Doskonałości, a także tworzenie fizycznej infrastruktury komputera kwantowego.

This paper analyzes the steps of the strategic development and use of innovations in the field of biotechnology in the largest and most developed countries of the world. Support for applied recommendations for state-level fundamental provisions regarding initiatives to develop the capacity of the biotechnology sector and increase the level of an international, strategic and competitive industry is presented. The authors conducted a study and evaluated the further promising use of innovations in biotechnology on the example of the EU-15 and EU13 countries. A regularity was revealed that the biotechnology of the EU countries (EU-15) is developed at a high national and international level. The overall results of our work have helped to define further strategic directions and presented potential prospects for innovation in the field of biotechnology, which will subsequently lead to increased investment in this area. Using the graphical method, a dynamic model of trade turnover in the bioeconomy of the EU-15 countries is presented, followed by the construction of a trend line. And also formulated and predicted the value of trade in the bioeconomy of the EU-15 and EU-13 for the next decade.

Purpose. Recently, foreign economic activity in Ukraine has gradually shifted towards the European Union (EU). The EU’s special interest in the potential of Ukraine’s transit transport lies in the geographical position of the country, which is located on the main routes of international freight traffic. The article aims to study the status and development opportunities in the field of transit freight transport of the Ukrainian railway joint-stock company (JSC Ukrzaliznytsya) within the framework of European integration. Methodology. The article presents the analysis of the activity of the JSC Ukrzaliznytsya in the field of transit freight transport for the period of 2005-2017 and outlines the strategic prospects for its development as a significant transit route considering the conditions of European integration. The methodology included theoretical and practical research using statistical methods; methods of comparative analysis; ABC analysis method; and taxonomic method. Results. The JSC Ukrzaliznytsya was analysed to determine the status of its activity in the field of transit freight transportation for 2005-2017. A structural-dynamic analysis was made to estimate cargo volumes transported by railway enterprises and related revenues. 18 types of cargo were identified using the ABC analysis method based on two indicators, namely, “volumes of transportation” and “revenues from cargo transit”. Also, taxonomic indicators of the level of system development were considered and revenues from cargo transit for the analysed period were estimated. Finally, recommendations were proposed regarding the development of a joint-stock company as a strategic cargo transporter under the conditions of European integration with Ukraine. Practical implications (if applicable). The results of the conducted research and performed calculations confirmed the need to refocus the management activity of the JSC Ukrzaliznytsya in the field of cargo transit towards strategically important cargoes, which have the largest share in the structure of financial results. This will enable the company to achieve its leading role as a strategic transit carrier of the European Union in the near future.

Przedmiotem zainteresowania artykułu są determinanty rozwoju strategicznego małych firm. W oparciu o badania pilotażowe z 2017 r. opisano je na przykładzie małych firm Lubelszczyzny w obszarach: cele strategiczne, możliwości rozwoju branży, czynniki konkurencyjności, innowacyjność, otwartość na rynki zewnętrzne. Dla określenia zmian zachodzących w czasie, skonfrontowano je z wynikami badań ogólnopolskich, przeprowadzonych przez PKPP Lewiatan w 2011 r.

Determinants of strategic development of small enterprises are the subject of interest in the article. Based on pilot studies from 2017, they have been described on the example of small Lublin Region enterprises in the following areas: strategic objectives, industry development opportunities, competitiveness factors, innovativeness, openness to external markets. They have been confronted with the results of nationwide research carried out by the Polish Confederation Lewiatan in 2011 to determine the changes over time.

W artykule autor prezentuje konstrukt przedsiębiorczości technologicznej jako mechanizm rozwoju strategicznego organizacji. Wpływ przedsiębiorczości technologicznej na rozwój organizacji jest przedstawiony na poziomie: działań, atrybutów oraz efektów. W artykule skoncentrowano się na strukturze organizacyjnej jako mechanizmie rozwoju strategicznego organizacji. W części dotyczącej prezentacji badań empirycznych przedsiębiorstw Doliny Lotniczej w Polsce autor, na podstawie metodyki jakościowego studium przypadku o charakterze porównawczym, prezentuje szkice empirycznych modeli struktury organizacyjnej, wspierającej procesy formułowania i wykorzystywania szans technologicznych.

In the article author presents technology entrepreneurship construct as a mechanism of strategic organizational development. The impact of technology entrepreneurship phenomenon on organizational development is presented on three levels, i.e.: processes, treats and results. In the article the emphasis is put on organizational structures as mechanism of organizational strategic development. In the part regarding empirical qualitative research of companies, which are the part of Aviation Valley in Poland, the sketches of models of organizational structures which support processes of opportunity identification and exploitation are presented.
