In the field of numerical research there are various approaches and methods for structures of porous materials modeling. The solution is the use of fractal models to develop the porous structure. In the case of modeling the geometry of natural (random) materials, there is a problem of compatibility of the FE model geometry and real one. This is a source of differences between the results of calculations and experimental ones. Application of 3D printing technology will allow to receive a real structure in a controlled manner, which exactly reflects the designed structure and is consistent with the geometry of the numerical model. An experimental research on the standard samples made of photopolymer resin using 3D printing technique was presented in the paper. The aim of the research was to determine the base material properties and, consequently, to select the constitutive model, which is necessary to carry out numerical analyses.

This paper presents the results of photopolymers used in rapid prototyping processes exploited in manufacturing of aircraft structural components on the basis of aircraft wheel hubs prototyping methods as Jetting Systems - JS and Stereolithography - SLA. Resins used in these techniques undergo polymerization process under specified conditions to form successive layers of RP model. Depending on the type of resin, the apparatus parameters, operating modes and model setting on the working platform various properties of prototypes are obtained. Knowledge of the actual physical, chemical (gel time, curing temperature, heat resistance) and mechanical parameters (of tensile strength, modulus, toughness, etc.) of the resin allows adequate definition of conditions and size of the load for RP model on the bench and introduce relevant characteristics of the resin in aim to determine the boundary conditions in numerical modeling including finite element method. The paper presents a comparative analysis of the parameters specified by the manufacturer differing from the actual tested strength parameters of RP resin. The standard test models were prepared under certain RP process parameters used to manufacture prototypes of aircraft wheel hubs. Desirability of special materials study for programming of SLA and JS prototyping processes was demonstrated by documented achievement of very good aircraft wheel hub prototype ensuring good prototyping effect for other elements of aircraft structures manufactured using different methods.

This paper presents results of prototyping of cementless THRA endoprosthesis with needle-palisade fixation system designed within the framework of the research project No 4 T07C 056 29. There are presented main instructions for modelling and prototyping according to Rogala's patents (Rogala, patents, 1999). CAD models present fragments of the needle-palisade fixation system, semicircle shaped fragments of the endoprosthesis and preprototype of total THRA endoprosthesis. The modelled elements were saved as STL format and printed with SLA. To verify the possibility of manufacturing of needle-palisade fixation system of the Rogala's cementless THRA endoprosthesis various samples of the fixation system were manufactured by one of direct metal manufacturing (DMM) technology - Selective Laser Melting (SLM). Fragments of needle-palisade fixation system were also manufactured by Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM). The paper presents the variety of designed samples and remarks concerning the producibility the needdle-palisade fixation manufacturing with the considered technologies.

Content available remote Properties of made by different methods of RP impeller foundry patterns

This article presents the tests of properties of foundry patterns of turbocharger turbine impeller. Impellers prototypes were predestinated for casting by method losing patterns. There were carried out tests of these prototypes made by different methods of Rapid Prototyping (RP). Two impeller were made by growth methods: stereolitography (SLA) and three dimensional printing (3DP). One prototype was made by the method of Vacuum Casting as a wax casting. Tests were executed in the Department of Machine Design of Rzeszow University of Technology in cooperation with WSK PZL Rzeszow and Car Technology Krakow. First impeller was carried out by method of stereolitography on SLA 250 plant. That pattern was also used to carry out silicon matrix for casting of wax pattern. Next pattern was printed by three dimensional printer Z510 from the powder ZP14. Good removability of the pattern from the mould is particularly essential for impellers of small turbines with blades of small thickness of their section. All pattern were tested on their removability from the ceramic mould. The best melting properties had the wax pattern. Patterns made from resin SL5170 (SLA) and powder ZP14 (3DP) were removed in the process of burning but about 1% of soot was left in the mould.

W artykule przedstawiono eksperymentalną metodę wyznaczania chwilowego śladu styku w przekładni zębatej. Do wyznaczenia śladu styku wykorzystano jedną z technik szybkiego prototypowania - stereolitografię. Wykorzystano przezroczysty materiał SL-5170 ułatwiający obserwację chwilowego śladu styku.

The paper contains description of an experimental method of Tooth Contact Analysis (TCA). The instantaneous contact ellipses and bearing area are experimentally determined with use a rapid prototyping (RP) process. A transparent fotohardening resin Sl5170 has been used to observe the instantaneous contact.

The new methods of adjustment and calibration of 3D Systems SLA250 stereolitography apparatus in this paper were introduced. Classically the drift fender is adjusted in relation to the resin surface by the level indicator. This is connected with exact leveling of resin reservoir, main frame and finally the drift fender. Authors propose the own method of adjusting the drift fender mainly, which is more efficient. The authors will also introduce the own way of the SLA 250 machine calibration.

Rapid development of manufacturing technology allows producing complex, physical 3D models based on a very accurate medical data. The aim of Rapid Prototyping (RP) is to reproduce most exactly "3D reality" within a solid, physical model. This paper presents the meaning of medical modelling, the process of manufacturing with the selected RP method (stereolitography), advantages of medi cal modelling to doctors and patients. It also reviews briefly the most common Rapid Prototyping methods.

W artykule przedstawiono analityczną metodę wyznaczania śladu styku zębów w przekładni wichrowatej koło zębate-zębatka. Omówiono metodykę wyznaczania linii styku i wykazano, że styk między zębami jest liniowy. Rozważania teoretyczne potwierdzono przykładami numerycznymi i badaniami eksperymentalnymi, którym poddano model wykonany metodą stereolito-grafii.

In the paper the method of determining tooth contact trace in rack — and - pinion transmissions has been presented. The method of tracing contact line has been discussed. Authors have shown that the contact between teeth is linear. Theoretical assumptions have been proved by numerical examples and by research conducted on the model formed by using method of stereolitography.
