Przedstawiono zadania procesu mieszania. Wymieniono i krótko scharakteryzowano mieszadła śmigłowe stosowane w oczyszczalniach ścieków . Opisano pracę mieszadła śmigłowego. Stwierdzono, że podstawowym parametrem użytkowym mieszadła jest wytwarzana przez nie siła osiowa, która określa zdolność mieszadła do wprawiania w ruch czynnika mieszanego. Stwierdzono, że w ruchu ustalonym wytwarza się w zbiorniku cyrkulacja, przy której zachodzi równość sumy sił osiowych mieszadeł z siłami oporów opływu dna i ścian zbiornika oraz stratami strumienia pędu czynnika przy zmianach kierunku przepływu. Przedstawiono aspekty doboru mieszadeł i ogólne zasady doboru.

The goals of mixing process have been presented in the paper. Propeller mixers used in sewage treatment plants were listed and shortly characterized. The duty conditions of mixer parameter of a mixer is the axial force produced by it, which determines the capability of the mixer to set a medium in motion. It was ascertained that in steady motion, such circulation is generated for which an equality-of the sum of axial forces with the resistant forces of round-flow of bottom and reservoir walls and with losses of momentum flux (rate) in cases of changes of flow direction-is achieved. The problems of mixer selection were considered and general rules of selection were presented.

The effect of wind influence upon swellings in river estuaries has been presented in this elaboration. The wind, which causes shear stresses at the water surface, changes the vertical profile of water flow velocity and therefore is a factor causing wind swell-ings. This problem is very important in the estuarial river sections, especialIy in river inflows to reservoirs (sea), when natural slopes of flowing water are smalI and com-ponents of gravity farce are not able to oppose the wind effect. Then wind backwater occurs.
