This article presents traffic safety statistics in the area of the EU. Changes in the number of deaths and injuries and the number of accidents have been reported since 2001, given the initiatives taken since this year to implement safety improvement programmes. The statistics on traffic accidents and the number of deaths in each EU country are presented. The situation concerning Poland among the EU countries is also presented by creating a classification that takes into account additional reference factors.

The paper outlines statistics of at-work accidents that happened in Poland from 2001 to 2011 during execution of electric works. In the years 2010 - 2013 several 2nd grade studies of individual protective equipment against the thermal hazards of electric arc according to PN-EN 61482 were executed. The study included electrical gloves, protective clothing and helmets with face shield. The results confirmed the effectiveness of protection. The paper presents the latest testing results of the protective helmets with integrated face shield. The tests were executed in the Polish and German laboratories.

Przedstawiono w zarysie statystykę wypadków przy pracy, które wydarzyły się w Polsce w latach 2001-2011 podczas wykonywania prac elektrycznych. W latach 2010-2013 wykonano kilka prac studialnych zgodnych z założeniami PN-EN 61482, dotyczących indywidualnej odzieży ochronnej 2 klasy dla monterów-elektryków, zabezpieczającej przed zagrożeniami termicznymi spowodowanymi łukiem elektrycznym. Prace te obejmowały badania nad rękawicami elektrycznymi, odzieżą ochronną oraz hełmami z osłoną twarzy, a ich rezultaty potwierdziły efektywność tej ochrony. Pokazano najnowsze wyniki testów przeprowadzonych w polskich i niemieckich laboratoriach badawczych dla hełmów z zintegrowaną osłoną twarzy.
