Wood density and static hardness interactions of English oak (Quercus robur L.) and Black locust (Robinia pseudoacacia L.). Hardwood species English oak and Black locust are broadly utilized in furniture and construction industry. The utilization requires the knowledge about properties such as density and static hardness. These properties affect shape and dimension stability as well as qualitative changes during wood processing. Interactions of static hardness and density of oak and black locust wood species were tested at standard conditions (MC = 12%). Oak did not showed significant dependency (p = 0.053). In contrary, Black locust showed very significant linear dependency of static hardness on density (r = 0,632, p = 0,0002). The results could be used in quality evaluation of structural wood.
