The paper describes present scope and directions of development of international standardization in the field of adjustable speed electric power drive systems. International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), in agreement with its European counterpart CENELEC, edits standards of IEC 61800-x series. Published standards establish general requirements and testing methods including electromagnetic compatibilty for low voltage (up to 1 kV) dc and ac drives. Successive standard will include provisions for drives up to 38 kV; safety aspects (electric, thermal and functional) as well as rating methods (including load cycles) also will be covered in the near future. The latest proposal presented in the paper deals with integration of power drive system in automation systems. Data set will be standardized to allow the communication between the drive system and control devices, diagnostic systems and tools for service and setup.

Przedstawiono tendencje towarzyszące powstawaniu międzynarodowego standardu dotyczącego wysokonapięciowych napędów energoelektronicznych HVPDS (High Vollage Power Drive System). Omówiono zakres przyszłej normy dotyczącej wysokonapięciowych układów napędowych o regulowanej prędkości kątowej. Podano wymagania dotyczące kompletnego HVPDS, jego badania oraz metody określania sprawności.

Tendencies accompanying the preparation of the international standard for the HVPDS (High Voltage Power Drive Systems). Range of the future standard concerning high voltage variable-speed drive systems. Requirements are given for a complete HVPDS unit, its examinations and methods for determining efficiency.
