Chlorinated were water samples from the river Supraśl, which is the primary source of municipal supply for the city of Białystok. The riverine water of interest carries large amounts of natural organic compounds (humic substances), which are trihalomethane precursors. Making use of the results obtained, we proposed a mathematical model, which enables the total trihalomethane concentration in the chlorinated water to be calculated. It was found that the maximum deviation from the real quantily did not exceed 6 mg/m3, and about 90% of the results fell in the range of 3 mg/m3, which corresponds with the relative error range of 8%.
