The effect of the rheological properties of the liquid on pressure drop in a spray column

In the paper the results of experimental studies on the effect of the reological properties of the liquid on pressure drop for the air-water and air-polymer solutions flow in the spray column equipped with conical and profiled confusors, have been presented. It has been shown that in polymer solutions the drag coefficient is greater than that in water. The reduction of pressure drop in a column with a confusor of profiled internal surfaces has been observed.

W pracy zweryfikowano własny kinetyczny model populacji kropel w ekstraktorze przez porównanie obliczonych i doświadczalnych rozkładów wielkości kropel w kolumnie rozpyłowej, wypełnionej i z wibrującymi półkami (RPC). Stwierdzono dobrą zgodność obliczonych i zmierzonych rozkładów oraz wielkości kropel.

Experimental data obtained for three distinctive kinds of columns (spray, packed, and reciprocating plate columns - RPC) were used to verify a kinetic model of drop population in any type of extractor. A favourable correlation was found between the data predicted by the model and those actually obtained through experimental observation.
