The present paper is concerned with the tasks of arrangement of the conditions for technology intensive, innovative and effective development of construction industry. The issues of advanced training and retraining of specialists in construction industry and housing and utilities infrastructure have been thoroughly studied and analysed. The new innovative approaches to improvement of intelligent potential of specialists and senior officials have been proposed to meet the up-to-date requirements. The main tendencies and trends for further development of professional education in the Russian Federation have been set out and verified for the next few years.

Niniejszy artykuł dotyczy warunków i zadań, jakie stoją przed instytucjami edukacyjnymi przygotowującymi specjalistów branży budowlanej do wdrażania innowacyjnych, efektywnych, zaawansowanych technologii. Wnikliwie zbadano i przeanalizowano kwestie wdrożenia szkoleń i przekwalifikowania specjalistów w zakresie inwestycji budowlanych, infrastruktury mieszkaniowej, przemysłowej i użyteczności publicznej. Zaproponowano nowe innowacyjne podejście do poprawy wiedzy i umiejętności specjalistów oraz kadry kierowniczej, tak aby mogli sprostać aktualnym wymaganiom i rozwiązaniom technicznym. Określono i zweryfikowano główne kierunki i trendy rozwoju profesjonalnego szkolenia zawodowego w Federacji Rosyjskiej.

Nowadays essential changes are happening in the field of education. A lot of people of different specialities feel the necessity of profound knowledge of foreign languages. To be a good specialist means not only read up-to-date literature but also keep hands on pulse. In our paper we would like to illustrate this point and present the portfolio of English for Specific Purposes (ESP) for the first and second year of studies at one of the higher technical universities, namely Lviv State University of Life Safety. Our course “English for Rescuers” focuses on the development of specific English language skills for students and cadets for Fire Safety speciality.

W nauczaniu można obecnie zaobserwować wiele istotnych zmian. Specjaliści widzą potrzebę znajomości języków obcych. Bycie dobrym specjalistą nie oznacza tylko korzystania z literatury specjalistycznej ale również śledzenie na bieżąco nowinek w swojej dziedzinie. W artykule podjęto próbę potwierdzenia tezy, jak również zaprezentowania portfolio kursu: Angielski o Profilu Specjalistycznym, skierowanego dla studentów pierwszego i drugiego roku studiów w jednym z technicznych uniwersytetów – Lwowskim Państwowym Uniwersytecie Bezpieczeństwa Życia. Kurs „Angielski dla Ratowników” zakłada rozwijanie specyficznych umiejętności języka angielskiego u studentów i kadetów wydziału Bezpieczeństwa Pożarowego.

The response of European pine marten (Martes martes L.) to the changes of small mammal abundance

The European pine marten (Martes martes) is commonly classified as an opportunistic predator. If this is the case, the species ought to show seasonal differences in the small mammal composition of its scats - the types of prey taken depending on their abundanc. In addition, it ought to consume the food that requires lower energy cost for their acquisition in each season. The feeding strategy of the European pine marten was studied in northwestern Spain by analyzing 209 scats collected between July 2004 and June 2005, and by seasonally trapping small mammals to obtain information on their abundance. The study area (5,722 ha) was located in a mountainous region (1,707.880 m a.s.l.) and covered with brushwood and deciduous forest (oak, birch, holly and pine). Molecular analysis of scats (PCR-RFLP) was performed to rule out the presence of the stone marten (Martes foina L.). The frequency of occurrence and biomass of the small mammals (the main prey species) preyed upon each season were compared. The pine marten consumed significantly more small mammals in the seasons in which their abundance was the lowest (winter and spring). In the autumn, when the highest number of small mammals was detected, the pine marten did not increase its predation of them. These results indicate that the European pine marten is not an opportunistic predator. Rather, the feeding strategy adopted by the species seems to be intermediate between that of an opportunist and specialist predator.

Wciąż postępujący stan degradacji środowiska naturalnego wielu obszarów Ziemi oraz zmieniająca się świadomość ekologiczna społeczeństw wskazują na silną potrzebę kształcenia specjalistów ochrony środowiska na poziomie studiów wyższych. Specjaliści ci powinni posiadać szeroką wiedzę z zakresu nauk przyrodniczych, technicznych, prawnych, ekonomicznych i o zarządzaniu oraz umiejętność praktycznego jej zastosowania. Omówiono niektóre edukacyjne uwarunkowania kształcenia specjalistów ochrony środowiska oraz została scharakteryzowana sylwetka absolwenta inżynierskich studiów zawodowych specjalności zarządzanie i ekonomika w ochronie środowiska.

Since the natural environment in many parts of the worid is constantly being degraded and the society is becoming more and more aware of the dangers connected with this situation, there is an urgent need to train specialists who will take care of the environment at the academic level. They should be familiar with a wide range of subjects staring from the natural and technical science, law, economics and management. They should also be able to put their knowledge and skills into practice. The article discusses some educational aspects of training environmental specialists and provides an outline of a graduate of studies specializing in the management and economics of natural environment engineering.
