Tytułowa ciągłość przestrzenna jest niezbędna do właściwego funkcjonowania miasta. Dostrzegane od lat, a wyszukane przez autorkę luki we wzorcowym, czyli pierścieniowo-klinowym systemie zieleni Poznania skłoniły zainicjowanie serii projektów koncepcyjnych wykonywanych od 2014 roku w ramach zajęć z projektowania zieleni ze studentami Wydziału Architektury Politechniki Poznańskiej. Wszystkie koncepcje projektowe, szczególnie Zielone podwórka oraz Green Patchwork, dotyczące terenów będących w większości we władaniu Poznania, miejsc często zaniedbanych, niewykorzystanych lub niedoinwestowanych były nie tylko tematami studialnymi, ale i zostały upublicznione, stając się przedmiotem szerszej dyskusji społecznej. W zestawieniu ze stanem obecnym są podstawą do dalszych autorskich badań. Konfrontacja przyjętych rozwiązań projektowych z ekspertami - projektantami krajobrazu i zieleni z Wielkiej Brytanii i Finlandii - podczas targów Gardenia na Międzynarodowych Targach Poznańskich i konferencji Arena Krajobrazu (2020) skłoniła do refleksji i wniosków przedstawionych w tym artykule.

The spatial continuity is necessary for the proper functioning of the city. The author noticed significant gaps in the model, ring-wedge green system of the Poznan city, which prompted her to initiate a series of conceptual designs that have been carried out since 2014 as part of green design classes with students of the Faculty of Architecture of the Poznan University of Technology. All the design concepts, especially Green Courtyards and Green Patchwork, concerned plots mostly owned by the city of Poznan. These were often neglected, unused or underinvested places. The students’ design concepts were not only study topics, but turned as public ones, they became the subject of wider social discussion. In comparison with the current state, they constitute the basis for further author’s research. The confrontation of the adopted design solutions with experts - landscape and greenery designers from Great Britain and Finland, during Gardenia fair at the Poznan International Fairs and the Arena Landscape conference (2020), induced reflection and conclusions presented in this article.

Maintaining spatial continuity in the development of the contemporary urban space is important to preserve the identity and spatial order. The contemporary urban development should preserve cultural continuity and respect existing architectural and urban infrastructure. The SCD method allows the maintaining of certain regularities in urban development designing and planning.

Zachowanie ciągłości przestrzennej układów urbanistycznych współczesnej przestrzeni miejskiej jest ważne dla zachowania tożsamości miejsca, ładu przestrzennego. Współczesny rozwój zabudowy miejskiej powinien zachowywać ciągłość kulturową, stanowić poszanowanie dla istniejącej infrastruktury architektoniczno-urbanistycznej. Przedstawiona metoda SCD pozwala na zachowanie pewnych prawidłowości w projektowaniu i planowaniu nowej zabudowy miejskiej.

Ciągłość i czytelność kompozycji przestrzeni, a właściwie ich brak, stał się znaczącym problemem współczesnej urbanistyki w Polsce. Problem ten dotyczy zarówno ogólnodostępnych przestrzeni publicznych jak i półprywatnych wnętrz urbanistycznych oraz przestrzeni prywatnych. Ciągłości brak zarówno w obrębie mniejszych jednostek, jak i, co istotniejsze, w relacjach pomiędzy nimi. Zaobserwować można, że zjawisko to nasila się od około 25 lat zwłaszcza w obszarach mieszkaniowych, w których poszczególne zespoły realizowane przez indywidualnych deweloperów tworzą niepowiązane z szerszym układem przestrzennym zamknięte "miasta", grodzone enklawy – getta. Nowe, powstałe pod koniec XX. i z początkiem XXI. wieku obszary mieszkaniowe cechuje brak czytelnej kompozycji urbanistycznej i brak skomponowanych sekwencji przestrzeni otwartych. Aby tworzyć przestrzeń wysokiej jakości konieczne jest stworzenie zestawu kryteriów, których spełnienie zapewni odpowiedni jej odbiór, a co za tym idzie komfort funkcjonowania człowieka w mieście. W artykule autor prezentuje zestawienie elementów kompozycji miasta wpływających na poczucie ciągłości przestrzeni zurbanizowanych oraz przedstawia przykład ich poprawnego zastosowania na przykładzie jednej z ważniejszych osi kompozycyjnych układu Krakowa.

Spatial continuity and overall clarity of urban design, or rather a manifest lack of them, has become a significant problem of modern urban planning in Poland. This problem affects both public spaces, semi-private urban interiors, and private spaces. There is hardly any spatial continuity both with regard to the smaller components and, more importantly, in terms of the attendant interrelations between them. This phenomenon has been particularly apparent for the last 25 years, especially in the residential areas, where the individually pursued development projects result in the emergence of the totally unrelated to each other, nor indeed to any locally prevalent spatial layout, security fenced-off residential enclaves, or "autonomous cities-within-cities", as it were. The newly developed residential areas, originating from the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries, generally seem to suffer from the lack of clear urban planning, also manifest in overall scarcity of pre-designed sequences of open spaces. In order to design high-quality open spaces within a city, it is vital to establish a set of criteria that would ensure their adequate public reception and appreciation, thereby enhancing overall functional comfort for the city dwellers. In the present paper the Author tries to offer some insights into the key constituent components of urban planning deemed to affect an individual sense of spatial continuity in the urbanized areas, as well as provides an explication of their prudent application by discussing in some detail the example of one of the spatially most crucial compositional axis within the city of Kraków.
