The spatial information systems as well as the World Wide Web bring about rapid development of tools for creation and sharing of information. Many different data formats are used for spatial information and they are completely different from the formats used in WWW. Nowadays, geographic information systems use quite different data formats. This entails problems with data exchange and additional problems with on-line data presentation in Internet. These problems have an impact on the exploration and mining industry. One of the most important methods used in geomatics is conceptual modeling of geodata by means of Unified Modeling Language (UML). Another important language is eXtensible Markup Language (XML) which is used for recording geoinformation data. Based on these tools a set of ISO 19100 standards was created for Geographic Information/Geomatics. So far, some attempts for implementation of geomatic standards in mining industry were made. One of them XMML eXploration and Mining Markup Language - was initiated by CSIRO and Fractal Graphics in 2000. There was a need to develop data transfer encoding to facilitate the exchange between computer networks, organizations, and possibly over time (archiving). It was decided to use an XML as an encoding tool and GML for spatial data encoding. The second project was taken up by ACARP (Australian Coal Association Research Program). This project is dedicated to the establishment of a new language which is based on XML - Coal Mine XML. So far - these projects delivered standard framework for the format and protocol of data exchange suitable for coal quality parameters, borehole data and geological models. In the next part of the paper the HTML language applications in Polish mines were described. The first of them is focused on accessibility of data about terrain deformation measurements in .Rudna. mine. Primary target of this project is focused on cost reduction. Another application is focused on publishing mining maps in internet format. At the end of paper a proposal of using ISO 19100 standards for creating and managing underground mine maps and deformation measurements was put forward. An attempt for definition of mine geomatics was given, as well.
