The paper deals with vibrations of structures under a moving inertial load. The space-time finite element, approach has been used for a general description of the moving mass particle. Problems occur when we perform computer simulations. In the case of wave problem numerical description of the moving inertial loads requires great mathematical care. Otherwise we get a wrong solution. There is no commercial computing packages that would enable us direct simulation of moving loads, both gravitational and inertial.

Przedmiotem pracy jest zastosowanie metody elementów czasoprzestrzennych do rozwiązywania zagadnień początkowo-brzegowych. Rozpatrzono równanie różniczkowe cząstkowe opisujące szeroki wachlarz takich zagadnień, jak np. nieustalony przepływ ciepła, konsolidacja gruntu związana z przepływem cieczy w porach gruntu, fale tłumione itp.

The scope of the task is an application of the space-time finite element method to the analysis of initial-boundary problems. The paper present differential equation which defines a wide variety of such problems, for example: a transient heat-flow, a consolidation of a soil influenced by a liquid-flow in a porous soil, damped waves, etc.

W pracy rozważa się drgania belek Eulera doznających stosunkowo dużych ugięć. Do rozwiązania tego zagadnienia wykorzystano metodę elementów czasoprzestrzennych.

An analysis of beam vibrations of the Euler beam subjected to relatively large deflections are considered. The space-time finite element method is used in the analysis.
