The compatibility concept, which started developing in the early nineties, is now widely considered as a fundamental basis of the concrete repair design process. The main challenges to be faced in view of fully implementing the approach in engineering practice lies in evaluating quantitatively the various compatibility requirements. In this paper, analytical and modeling tools are considered for the evaluation of dimensional compatibility. The ability of these tools to take into account the combination of variables such as the exposure conditions is shown through a few examples.

Koncepcja kompatybilności została sformułowana w latach 90. i jest powszechnie uważana za podstawową zasadę napraw betonu. Jednym z największych wyzwań dotyczących pełnego wdrożenia tego podejścia do praktyki inżynierskiej jest możliwość ilościowej oceny różnych typów kompatybilności. W artykule zaprezentowano dwa podejścia do ilościowego charakteryzowania kompatybilności napraw. Na kilku przykładach przedstawiono możliwość ich wykorzystania w analizie wpływu kombinacji różnych warunków podczas stosowania wyrobów i użytkowania obiektu na kompatybilność.

Analysis ol the cause of damage of a reinforced concrete floor above a garage of a multi-storey residential building. Undertaking an accurate assessment of the effects of concrete shrinkage and required minimum shrinkage reinforcement of complex reinforced concrete constructions emphasizes the fact of being an exceedingly difficult issue to consider. The analysis below broaches this matter basing on the example of a fragment of a building characterized by a rare construction system. Since the shrinkage aspects have not been taken into account, the applied reinforcement concerns only bending. Indeed, this fact, as well as the peculiarity of a shape of the building, affected the ceiling surface causing the emergence of a crack across its length and thus, plenty of leaks. The study of the above-mentioned case attempts to specify the quantity of required reinforcement by comparing results obtained from various methods adopted for this purpose.

This paper presents a methodology for the non-destructive location and identification of cracks in unilaterally accessible massive concrete walls by means of the state-of-the-art acoustic methods of impulse response and ultrasound tomography. An example of the practical verification of the methodology used to investigate the concrete structure of a hydroelectric power plant is provided.

W artykule przedstawiono przypadek spękań betonu płyt stropowych na całej wysokości przekroju ,które pojawiły się podczas realizacji budynku mieszkalnego. Na podstawie badań na obiekcie i badań laboratoryjnych oraz strukturalnych (elektronomikroskopowe, rentgenowskie, derywatograficzne) przeanalizowano przyczyny zaistnienia stanu awaryjnego i rozważono możliwości naprawy. Niewłaściwy dobór składników do wytworzenia mieszanki betonowej poskutkował spękaniami spowodowanymi odkształceniami skurczowymi i stwarzał możliwość wystąpienia korozji wewnętrznej betonu stropów w trakcie ich eksploatacji.

In the paper a case of ceiling slabs concrete cracking running across the entire depth of cross-section, which occurred during construction of residential house is presented. Reasons for damage and repair possibilities were analyzed basing on in-situ and laboratory tests including structural ones (SEM tests, X-ray tests, derivatographical tests). Improper selection of concrete mix components resulted in cracking due to shrinkage strains. This caused possibilities for on internal corrosion of ceiling concrete during its service.
