Collapsible soils type are in nature unsaturated soils, which are characterized by a metastable structure and undergo an abrupt collapse when they are flooded (with or without loading), which causes important damage. Based on the structural composition of these soils, we reconstituted the samples made up of sand and fine particles occurring in various proportions. The first phase of the work consists in the experimental determination of the geotechnical characteristics of these samples. It is thereafter proposed a test program based primarily on the use of the cone penetrometer and the ultrasonic apparatus allowing the factors which influence collapse to be predicted. The results obtained clearly show the influence of certain parameters such as water content and the energy of compaction on the collapse potential and the ultrasonic speed.

W artykule przedstawiono wybrane artykule przedstawiono wybrane zagadnienia badań przestrzeni gruntowej, które prowadzono ze względu na przebiegające w niej przewody kanalizacyjne. Częstym celem tych badań jest precyzowanie trasy przebiegu przewodów i przyłączy, a dla przewodów o określonej lokalizacji rozpoznanie warunków ich posadowienia, stwierdzenie agresywności chemicznej środowiska i wykrycie zjawisk będących wynikiem nieszczelności przewodu. Część z wymienianych metod badawczych jest rzadko stosowana w praktyce, jednak świadomość ich istnienia może okazać się przydatna szczególnie w przypadku poszukiwania rozwiązań dla sytuacji nietypowych.

The article presents a choice of issues concerning ground examination performed in areas with neighbouring pipelines. Usually they are aimed at precise establishment of the pipeline routes, as well as the recognition of the ground conditions in which they are set; such as the level of the environment chemical aggressiveness and the causes for the pipe's lack of tightness. Some of the methods listed are rarely applied in practice, while knowing them may turn out useful when special solutions are needed for challenging cases.
