The title of the article is a paraphrase of the title of an essay by Wilfried Wang: SiteSpecificity, Skilled Labor, and Culture: Architectural Principles in the Age of Climate Change [9]. While Wang raises the fundamental problem of the need to change the architect's attitude in the design process in a climate crisis, paying particular attention to the need to “reconnect the building with the context”3, the author discusses the very workshop of the architect's work, and more precisely – the basic drawing tools. He puts forward theses about what the title issues should be for architects today.

Tytuł artykułu jest parafrazą tytułu eseju Wilfrieda Wanga: SiteSpecificity, Skilled Labor and Culture: Architectural Principles in the Age of Climate Change [9]. O ile Wang porusza zasadniczy problem potrzeby zmiany postawy architekta w procesie projektowym w sytuacji kryzysu klimatycznego, zwracając uwagę zwłaszcza na konieczność ponownego „połączenia budynku z kontekstem”3, to Autor podejmuje rozważania na temat samego już warsztatu pracy architekta, a dokładniej – podstawowego narzędzia, jakim jest rysunek. Stawia tezy mówiące o tym, czym dzisiaj powinny być dla architekta tytułowe zagadnienia.

Social structure determinants of Polish military manpower

Objectives: This paper sets out to identify the key elements of Polish social structure that are critical to the manpower of the Polish Armed Forces. So far, there has been little discussion, in either the literature or ongoing public polemics, regarding the dependence of the Armed Forces on the shape of the social structure in the context of ensuring state security. Methods: This work is predominantly based on the analysis of available literature: scientific articles, legal acts and the results from the survey research conducted by specialised institutions, in particular, Polish Central Statistical Office. Results: On the basis of the presented analysis, it appears that it is the current Polish social structure that constitutes the major problem in the context of the insufficient personnel numbers in the Polish Armed Forces. The present state is below the expectations and needs of the Polish Army, mainly due to the lack of young people with special technical education. The earnings in the private sector by far outweigh the remuneration levels offered in the military, which effectively deters young people from undertaking service for the benefit of state security.On the basis of the presented analysis, it appears that it is the current Polish social structure that constitutes the major problem in the context of the insufficient personnel numbers in the Polish Armed Forces. Rozwój społeczno-ekonomiczny wymusza nie tylko większą złożoność struktur organizacyjnych, ale także zacieśnianie współpracy oraz stosowanie nowoczesnych metod pomiaru i oceny zmian w obszarze bezrobocia. Zastosowana metoda projektów umożliwiła głównie identyfikację, opis oraz w pewnym zakresie wyjaśnienie przyczyn pojawiania się zawodów deficytowych i nadwyżkowych. Prezentowane wyniki badań wskazały, że wykonywany zawód jest ważnym wskaźnikiem posiadanego zasobu kapitału kulturowego, edukacyjnego i społecznego jednostki, który w dużej mierze konstytuuje pozycję jednostki w strukturze społeczności lokalnej[2]. Jest to zgodne z założeniami funkcjonalno-strukturalnej teorii uwarstwienia społecznego, którą zapoczątkował K. Davis i W. Moore i rozwijał P. Blau, który wskazał, że istotnym wymiarem zmian społecznych jest kwestia uwarstwienia, a szczególnie analiza zmian w statusie ludzi aktywnych zawodowo i bezrobotnych oraz zajmowanej przez nich pozycji społecznej, strukturze zaspokajania potrzeb.

Socio-economic development requires not only more majority complexity organizational structures and network interdependence, but widely used modern methods measurement changes, which are characterized by specific procedures studies. Implemented projects method made possible to identify and explain the need of differentiating the deficit and surplus professions. And moreover this method was based on necessity of isolating defined stages, which were of colossal significance for achieving assumed final result. The presented research results indicated that differentiated professional groups are the important factor for possessing resources of cultural, educational and social capital, which to great extent constitutes their position in regional and local social structures. Such approach is concordant with functional and structural theories, which were initiated by K. Davis and W. Moore, and developed by P. Blau indicates that an important dimension of change is the issue of social stratification, especially the analysis of changes in the status of the working and unemployed, as well as their social position, the structure of meeting the needs.

Artykuł koncentruje się na problemie struktury społecznej współczesnych zglobalizowanych społeczeństw. Dokonaliśmy zestawienia dwóch popularnych koncepcji struktury społecznej. Najpierw przyjrzeliśmy się względnie optymistycznej koncepcji klasy kreatywnej Richarda Floridy. Następnie zestawiliśmy ją z popularną obecnie koncepcją prekariatu Guya Standinga. Opis obu perspektyw był podstawą kilku uwag o charakterze krytycznym. Wykazaliśmy, że wizje te są obarczone pewnymi normatywnymi założeniami. Stawia to pod znakiem zapytania ich przydatność w opisywaniu rzeczywistości społecznej.

The article concentrates on the problem of social structure of contemporary globalized societies. We have put together two popular concepts of social structure. Firstly, we have looked at the relatively optimistic Richard Florida concept of creative class. Next we compiled it with the popular Guy Standings’ precariat concept. Description of the two perspectives was the basis for some critical remarks. We have shown that these visions are affected by some normative assumptions. This puts into a question its useful in describing the social reality.

This paper contains a proposed questionnaire and the results of social research conducted on an estate in Lublin consisting of prefabricated buildings. Such research is helpful in the development of a revitalization programme.
