On semibounded expansions of ordered groups

We explore semibounded expansions of arbitrary ordered groups; namely, expansions that do not define a field on the whole universe. We show that if R=⟨R,<,+,…⟩ is a semibounded o-minimal structure and P⊆R is a set satisfying certain tameness conditions, then ⟨R,P⟩ remains semibounded. Examples include the cases when R=⟨R,<,+,(x↦λx)λ∈R,⋅↾[0,1]2⟩, and P=2Z or P is an iteration sequence. As an application, we show that smooth functions definable in such ⟨R,P⟩ are definable in R.

Artykuł dotyczy badań zastosowania funkcji gładkich w aproksymacji nieciągłości siły tarcia w statycznych modelach tarcia suchego ślizgowego. Aproksymację zrealizowano za pomocą funkcji gładkich reprezentowanych przez funkcje trygonometryczne i krzywe B-spline trzeciego rzędu. Celem badań jest określenie wpływu funkcji gładkich przyjętych w modelach tarcia na zbieżność obliczeń numerycznych równań ruchu ciał. Modele tarcia charakteryzujące się gładkim przebiegiem w warunkach tarcia stick-slip mogą być wykorzystanie podczas rozwiązywania układów dynamicznych maszyn metodami przeznaczonymi dla układów ciągłych.

The paper deals with the research of application of smooth functions in the approximation of friction force discontinuity in the static friction models. Approximation was realized by means of smooth functions represented by trigonometric functions and B-spline curve of third order. The aim of research is to determine the influence of smooth functions adopted in the friction models on the convergence of numerical calculations of motion equations. The friction models of smooth course in the stick-slip friction phase can be used when solving the dynamic systems of machines with the help of method designed for continuous systems.
