Knowledge, skills and intangibles have now a decisive role in building a competitive advantage of company [20]. For enterprises of small and medium-sized enterprises (SME), consistent with the author's developed reference SME model, proposed a personnel usefulness function, that allows to determine the value of knowledge in the enterprise. This paper presents selected results of research focused on the level of innovations of the SME sector. Consequently a set of indicators, that describe innovative company and the procedure of strategic managing intellectual capital in an innovative SME were formulated. Use of the presented procedure could be a guarantee of achieving the assumed level of innovation in the enterprise.

Przeanalizowano możliwość prowadzenia procesów rafineryjnych dla sektora małych i średnich przedsiębiorstw SMEs (small and medium-sized enterprises) na przykładzie wodorowego uszlachetniania ciekłych frakcji paliwowych z termokatalitycznego rozkładu odpadowych poliolefin. Skala procesu 55 tys. t/r wymagać będzie co najmniej 300 t wodoru. Zwrócono uwagę na aspekty technologiczne procesu kopirolizy aglomeratów z odpadowych poliolefin (25% mas.) z olejem technologicznym, głównie parafinowym, i nowe możliwości ukierunkowane pod inwestycję wodorowego uszlachetniania otrzymywanych produktów w Kędzierzynie-Kożlu. Dotychczasowe rozwiązanie łączy zakład utylizacji z rafineriami południowymi układem handlowym. Oczekuje się, że olej dieslowy z odpadowych poliolefin będzie otrzymywany w jednej firmie. W zakresie najnowszych badań nad uszlachetnianiem przeprowadzono próby hydrokrakingu produktów kopirolizy, umożliwiające w jednym etapie zmniejszenie zawartości siarki i zwiększenie udziału frakcji o zakresach wrzenia paliw.

Small and medium size enterprises (SME) are finding that the technology available trough ASP (Application Service Providing) can help them apply ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) techniques to their operations. By using application service providers for processes such as online invoicing. production and inventory, businesses are strengthening their links to customers. vendors and business partners. Since supply chains are mainly supported by software solutions (for instance ERP), SMEs must be able to use and implement a solution themselves. Because they don't have the required capital and IT that enables it, they will fall out of the Supply Chains. The solution to this problem is just the ASP.

A review of methods for quality assurance during designing. projecting. implementing and putting into practice information systems in this research has been done. After information systems that aid management in small and medium size enterprises has been analyzed and after analysis of the Act of Public Orders requirements the model and the method for evaluating these systems have been done. For the evaluation of information systems quality parameters have been defined. These parameters have been combined into thematic groups called criteria. The following criteria have been separated: manufacturer reliability, the capability to satisfy users' information needs, genuine as regards law and formalities, designer work-shop, methods of assuring security, interface ergonomics, documentation, quality and exploitation unfailiness, economical system efficiency, qualification and the cost of users trainings and service. The aim of the worked out method is to facilitate the choice of information system in the process of company management. The parametrical method of evaluation of informatical system quality rely on: - Defying by users needs by subordinating adequate validity grades to each parameter; separating the group-critical criteria that are necessary for correct acting of the company and in case the critical criteria are not fulfilled all system can be declined. - The evaluation of each parameter upon proposed grades scale, made by experts. - The comparison of the final results. In the method (from products of validity grades and criteria evaluation) we obtain three kinds of final evaluations: - The evaluation of every functional area, separated as criterion the ability to satisfy information needs of the user, - Final evaluation of each criteria, - Global evaluation of all criteria. This method has been verified in some enterprises, . among others in manufacturing and service companies.

The paper addresses an issue of decision-making support for project-driven small and medium size enterprises. The considered problem regards of finding a feasible schedule that follows the constraints imposed by duration order and price selling given by customer and by the time-constrained resources availability. In other words it is looking for the answer whether a given work order can be accepted for processing in an manufacturing system. The problem belongs to a class of multi-mode case problems of a project scheduling, where finding of a feasible solution is NP-complete. In that context the main constraints of commercially available packages, e.g. MS PROJECT 2002, PROJECT SCHEDULER 6.0, ProAlpha l ,4d, ILOG OPL Studio 3.6 are discussed. In order to overcome the disadvantages observed a new heuristic project scheduling method is proposed and its software implementation is presented as well.

The article presents the current project developed m the European Union. The authors of this paper are members of Polish project team managed by Prof H. Sroka.
