The study presents the results of tribological research of two polyoxymethylene (POM) based composites - trade mark Tarnoform 300. One of composites, Tarnoform 300 TF2, consists 10% per weight of PTFE powder (polytetrafluoroethylene) and the second, Tarnoform 300 G2, consists 10% per weight of PE-UHMW powder (ultra high molecular weight polyethylene). The tribological research concerned the effect of sliding surface roughness of the steel counter-element (Ra parameter) as well as unit pressure and sliding velocity on the value of coefficient of friction during the cooperation with specified composites as well as on the wear rate of these composites. The parameter of surface roughness Ra was changed in value range from 0,11 žm to 1,67 žm. Based on the received results the recommendations concerning the optimal roughness of the steel sliding element were formulated. Taking the optimal roughness of the steel counter-element into consideration in value Ra=0,55-0,65 žm the research of influence of unit pressure (in range from 0,3 MPa to 1,7 MPa) and the sliding velocity (in range from 0,2 m/s to 1,8 m/s) on the property of tested sliding matchings. The rotatable plan of experiment schedule was used for these research realization. Results of the research were approximated by the multidimensional regression functions of the coefficient of friction and the linear wear intensity of the composite and were presented in form of spatial graphs that present changes of these values according to motion parameters (unit pressure and sliding velocity). Obtained results have enabled to formulate the designing recommendations for using the analysed POM composites in the slide knots concerning the optimal roughness of the steel sliding element as well as the recommended values of unit pressure and sliding velocity.
