Content available remote Vibration of skew plate with circular variation in thickness and Poisson’s ratio
EN
The present study analyzes the natural vibration of non homogeneous visco elastic skew plate (parallelogram plate) with non uniform thickness under temperature field. Here non homogeneity in the plate's material arises due to circular variation in Poisson's ratio. Also the circular variation in thickness causes non uniformity in the shape of the plate. Bi linear temperature variation on the plate along both the axes is being viewed. The equation of motion related to frequency modes are solved by Rayleigh Ritz method. The findings of the present analysis are presented with the help of tables.

Static, vibration and buckling behavior of laminated composite and sandwich skew plates is studied using an efficient C0 FE model developed based on refined higher order zigzag theory. The C0 FE model satisfies the interlaminar shear stress continuity at the interfaces and zero transverse shear stress conditions at plate top and bottom. In this model, the first derivatives of transverse displacement have been treated as independent variables to overcome the problem of C1 continuity associated with the plate theory. The C0 continuity of the present element is compensated in the stiffness matrix formulation by adding a suitable term. In order to avoid stress oscillations observed in the displacement based finite element, the stress field derived from temperature is made consistent with the total strain field by using field consistent approach. Numerical results are presented for different static, vibration and buckling problems by applying the FE model under thermo mechanical loading, where a nine noded C0 continuous isoparametric element is used. It is observed that there are very few results available in the literature on laminated composite and sandwich skew plates based on refined theories. As such many new results are also generated for future reference.

Content available remote Static analysis of isotropic thick/thin skew plates by finite element method
EN
A general first order shear deformation theory has been developed to analyze the bending behavior of isotropic skew plates. The plates having different skew angles ('alpha'), aspect ratios (a/b), boundary conditions and transverse loading conditions (concentrated load, uniformly distributed load, hydrostatic varying load and sinusoidal varying load) have been analyzed by the nine node isoparametric element. The analysis has also been performed considering plate thickness ratio varying from a/b=0.001 to a/b=0.02. The deflections and principal bending moments in non-dimensional forms have been presented at different locations of the plates. The present solutions have been compared with the published results wherever available and have got good agreement. Some numerical solutions have been given which may be treated as new results.
