W artykule przedstawiono wyniki dotychczasowych badań skał mezozoicznych występujących w odkrywkach KWB Adamów. Wspomniane skały są gezami wapiennymi, a ich wiek określa się na dolny mastrycht. Na podstawie wstępnych badań można zasugerować kierunki wykorzystania tych skał, które obecnie są traktowane jako odpady przy wydobyciu węgla brunatnego. Te trudno urabialne skały węglanowo-krzemionkowe nie nadają się do wykorzystania w przemyśle cementowym. Gezy wapienne mogą być używane jako kruszywo łamane niskiej klasy na terenie odkrywek. Ponadto badane skały mezozoiczne mogłyby znaleźć zastosowanie w rolnictwie jako nawóz wapienny, co wymaga jednak dalszych badań.T

The results of investigations of the Mesozoic rocks from Adamów Lignite Surface Mine are presented in the article. The mentioned rocks belong to carbonate gaizes and their age is described as Lower Maastrichtian. Basing on the introductory research it is possible to suggest the directions of utilisation of the gaizes. Nowadays, they are treated as waste materials in the lignite exploitation, These hard diggable rocks can not be applied to the cement production. On the other hand, the gaizes could be used as the substitute for sands and gravels to road building in the open cast mine area. Moreover, the gaizes can be used in agriculture as carbonate fertilizer to make the soil acidity lower. The last aim of the ustilisation of the described Mesozoic rocks is the most possible but it needs further investigation.
