More and mnore rigorous limitation of toxic component emission in exhaust gas oblige users of diesel engines to put into practice rapid diagnostic methods for technical condition evaluation of combustion engines, particularly of an enjection equipment. The paper gives a definition of the unrepeatable (variability) index of the maximum fuel pressure in a delivery pipe. In the autor's opinion, this index can become a new diagnostic parameter in the evaluation of technical condition of an injection equipment. Principles of the diagnostic method, conventinally called DX-2, basing on this index are presented in the paper. The influence of a number of operating factors on the variability index of the maximim fuel pressure in a delivery pipe is described. The paper presents speed characteristics of the distributor type ijection pump DPA-WSK-PZL 3238F150 for chosen settings of a fuel charge control level: Smin, S1/4, S1/2, S3/4, Smax.
