PT. Naruna is a ceramics factory located in Salatiga, Indonesia. In PT. Naruna ceramics, all products are handmade with contemporary designs and have a high artistic value in shape and color. Getting profit is the company's primary goal, but many companies still need to learn the maximum profit that can be obtained by optimizing their resources, one of which is PT. Naruna. PT. Naruna produces goods based on intuition. As a result, a lot of goods are piled up in warehouses. Meanwhile, with the development of the times, new trends and images will appear more attractive so that consumer tastes and motifs from ceramics will change. In addition, ceramic products that have gone through the combustion process cannot be recycled and must be burned. This research focuses on the production of glasses with three different types according to price. The aim of this paper is to optimize profits by determining the composition of the number of products produced. We used linear programming with a simplex method to solve our problem in PT. Naruna. Linear programming is the most appropriate method for solving problems that exist in PT. Naruna, namely by paying attention to the objective and constraint functions. The objective function is to maximize profit, so it takes the form of a linear equation with the variable X1 being the first type of glass, X2 being the second type of glass, and X3 being the third type of glass. The constraint functions used include the number of products, the number of workers, the amount of clay, and the time for production. The results show that PT. Naruna can achieve maximum profit when producing glass type 1 less than type 3 less than type 2.

W artykule krótko opisano metodę simpleksów - prostą metodę poszukiwania optymalnych parametrów procesu, maszyny czy urządzenia. Pokazano, że metoda simpleksów, powszechnie stosowana w technologii chemicznej, może również być wykorzystana w budowie i eksploatacji maszyn. Przedstawiono przykład wykorzystania metody simpleksów do badań symulacyjnych mikrozaworu hydraulicznego, których celem był dobór najlepszych parametrów geometrycznych elementu domykającego i sztywności sprężyny.

The paper briefly describes the simplex method - a simple method of searching for the optimal process, machine or device parameters. It has been shown that the simplex method commonly used in chemical technology can also be applied to the construction and operation of machines. An example of using the simplex method for simulation research of a hydraulic microvalve was presented. The purpose of the tests was to select the best geometric parameters of the closing element and spring stiffness.

In the paper two non-integer order, state space models of heat transfer process are compared. The first uses a known Caputo operator and the second – a new operator proposed by Caputo and Fabrizio in 2015. Both discussed models are modifications of a known, integer order, state space, semigroup model of heat transfer process. Parameters of both models were identified by means of optimization of MSE cost function with the use of simplex method, available in MATLAB. Both proposed models have been compared in the aspect of accuracy and convergence. Analytical and numerical results show that the Caputo-Fabrizio model is faster convergent and easier to implement than the Caputo model. However, its accuracy in the sense of MSE cost function is worse.

One of the methods of land transformation is linear programming method, which is called the simplex method. Its application allows us quickly and efficiently to build a model of optimal use of land resources and helps to find such combination of the lands, that allows us to obtain the maximum yield in money equivalent with given resources. The application of methods of remote sensing (RS) as spatial information to solve the problems of land management, including land transformation, becomes the most optimal in modern conditions.

The paper lists the problems hindering the use in business practices of the results of solving direct and inverse problems in linear programming. It is shown that overcoming these obstacles lies in the way of using of developed by the author and described in this paper method of structural optimization and algorithms for its implementation. Here are some examples of solutions by the method of structural optimization of production planning problems.

The microporous carbon materials were prepared by chemical activation of Polish coal with potassium hydroxide using the simplex design method for planning the experiments. The experimental parameters were varied to identify the optimum conditions. Coal can be an excellent starting material for the preparation of high porous carbons for natural gas storage. The porosity of the resultant carbons was characterized by nitrogen adsorption (-196oC). Methane adsorption was investigated in a volumetric laboratory installation at range pressures from 1 to 3.5 MPa (25oC). The best results of methane storage capacity (557 cm3 . g-1) were obtained when using an impregnation ratio 3.41/1 KOH/precursor and temperature at 592oC, (SLANG = 2091 m2 . g-1). The parameters of the preparation of high porosity and high methane adsorption carbon were determined by a fast and simple method.

W niniejszym artykule przedstawiono system wspomagania projektowania wyboru wariantów technologicznych, racjonalnego wykorzystania urządzeń i realizacji zamówień w procesie wytwarzania rur miedzianych. System ten oparty został na modelu matematycznym planowania produkcji rur, opisującym funkcję celu i ograniczenia. Zadanie optymalizacji jednokryterialnej przyjmujące jako kryterium maksimum zysku pozwala na realizację zamówień przy wyborze racjonalnych wariantów technologicznych i wykorzystaniu urządzeń. Przedstawiono przykładowe rozwiązanie metodą Simplex. Po analizie wyników opisano koncepcję dalszego rozwiązania postawionego problemu metodą optymalizacji wielokryterialnej.

The paper presents technological variants projecting assistance system, the rational using of the devices and the process of the copper-tubes production order realization. This system is based on the tube production mathematical model which describes the objective function and limitations. Problem of optimization witch take maximum gain as a criterion, allows completing an order when technological rational variants and devices utilization were taken into account. Example of method Simplex solution was presented. After results analysis, the conception of future solution method - using multicriteria optimization - was presented.

The paper presents a modified nonlinear simplex algorithm with lexicographic order comparison of solutions and its application to the design of optimal induction motors. In the comparison of the solutions generated in the optimization process, both the objective function value and the additional parameter, called the satisfaction level of constraints, have been taken into account. The comparison method assigns some advantage degree to feasible solutions, thus allows for the control of this advantage degree during the optimization process. Special attention has been paid to the choice of the algorithm parameters and to the kind of the mutation operator. The presented algorithm has been implemented in the object-oriented software. Calculation results of the selected double-cage induction motors have been compared with the results obtained with the evolution strategy (μ+λ)-ES and with the hybrid algorithm assembled with the modified Price algorithm. An additional calculation experiment allows for the comparison of exploitation properties between the α-Constrained Simplex Method and the Modified Price Algorithm. As the investigations showed, the presented algorithm can be successively used for the optimization of the induction motors, however, with constraints, which are not very restrictive concerning respective functional parameters.

W artykule omówiono koncepcję interaktywnej optymalizacji wizualnej w trybie bezpośrednim. Pokazano przesłanki stosowania proponowanej koncepcji, oraz zakres metod optymalizacji, w stosunku do których koncepcja może zostać zastosowana. Ważnym czynnikiem stanowiącym i podatności na interakcje, a co za tym idzie o pracę w trybie bezpośrednim danej metody optymalizacji, jest jest reaktywność. Omówiono reaktywność problemu programowania liniowego, rozwiązywanego metodą tradycyjną, oraz z zastosowaniem gradientowych równań różniczkowych. Praca ta otwiera droge do dalszych poszukiwań naukowych oraz do sprecyzowania modeli komputerowych rozwiązywania zadań optymalizacji w trybie bezposrednim, z uwzględnieniem interakcji. Ciekawą możliwością jest podjęcie próby zrównoleglenia obliczeń dla wybranych metod w ten sposób, aby wykorzystać nowoczesne, wielordzeniowe środowiska obliczeniowe. Proponowana koncepcja stanowi uzupełnienie stosowanych obecnie metod i algorytmów z zakresu optymalizacji adaptacyjnej i predykcyjnej, oraz metod sztucznej inteligencji.

The paper presents the concept of on-line, interactive visual optimization. Such kind of optimization, given the constantly growing computational power of modern computers, allows for solving ill-defined optimization problems. As a reference point one of the most frequently solved optimization tasks was selected: linear programming, using the simplex method. The beneflts of using presented concept and a general methodology are described.
