This paper introduces the most basic concepts of the compositional analysis of data with a simple but real example form the Management and Production Engineering (MPE) field. Compositional Data (CoDa) are vectors of positive elements that represent parts of a whole and are widely found in MPE, i.e. production times, resource composition, percentage utilization of work stands, waste components. . . The need for an analysis based on ratios of components (or better log-ratios of components) is illustrated step by step, and findings are compared to the corresponding standard methods applied to raw compositions. The paper also exposes the principles of CoDa analysis and presents two basic descriptive tools suitable for CoDa: the clr-biplot and the CoDa dendrogram. The example is a time series, from 1994 to 2013, of motor vehicle production in 8 countries and regions.

It is well-known that the left term of the classical Hermite-Hadamard inequality is closer to the integral mean value than the right one. We show that in the multivariate case it is not true. Moreover, we introduce some related inequality comparing the methods of the approximate integration, which is optimal. We also present its counterpart of Fejér type.

W referacie przedstawiono propozycję identyfikacji obiektów dyskretnych wykorzystującej koncepcje filtrów estymacyjnych. Podstawę proponowanej metody identyfikacji stanowią zmodyfikowane algorytmy estymacji. Postuluje się dołączenie filtrów estymacyjnych do kategorii pojęć związanych z filtrami adaptacyjnymi, sieciami neuronowymi i algorytmami genetycznymi. Kontekstem aplikacyjnym artykułu są zagadnienia logistyki wybranych elementów wytwarzania i dystrybucji energii elektrycznej, w szczególności kontroli jakości energii dostarczanej do odbiorców końcowych. Prezentowane wyniki obejmują wybrane elementy projektu w ramach prac podstawowych w zakresie archiwizacji i szybkiej identyfikacji sygnałów elektrycznych. Modelowanie systemu propagacji zaburzeń zrealizowano przy wykorzystaniu pakietu PSCAD X4.

In this paper the proposal of the identification of discrete objects using concepts of estimation filters is presented. Estimation methods and mathematical programming have been the subject of the first stage of the research project:“Novel signal processing methods and global power quality indices for assessment of power systems with distributed generation”. The results are presented in the context of archiving and quick identification of electrical signals. Modeling system of propagation disturbance using PSCAD X4 package was carried out.

Let Xi, i∈I, and Yj, j∈J, be compact convex sets whose sets of extreme points are affinely independent and let φ be an affine homeomorphism of ∏i∈IXi onto ∏j∈JYj. We show that there exists a bijection b:I→J such that φ is the product of affine homeomorphisms of Xi onto Yb(i), i∈I.

In the paper a novel mathematical model of electromechanical actuator is presented. It is based on application of Hamiltonian equations in the description of electromechanical energy conversion. It results in employment of flux linkages as state variables in the state space equations. For simplicity only a 3-phase wye connected stator winding without a neutral wire is considered in detail. The procedure can be generalised to any number of phases. Topology-based approach is used in the model implementation. Procedures for evaluation of all quantities (currents, energy/coenergy, electromagnetic torque) present in model equations are described. Eddy currents and hysteresis phenolmenon are neglected in formulation of the model to enable application of state-space description.

The principles of the simplex method, referred to n-D space, arę recalled in terms of the scalar product of vectors, known from elementary algebra. The elements of a simplex plan-ning matrix, referred to n-D space, arę obtained from simple calculations. A target function, involving accuracy and precision of measurements, has been applied as the criterion of quality of the analyses.

Zasady metody planowania sympleksowego, odniesione do przestrzeni n-wymiarowej (n-D), są zaprezentowane z użyciem pojęcia iloczynu skalarnego, znanego z algebry elementarnej. Elementy macierzy planowania sympleksowego, odniesione do przestrzeni n-D, są otrzymane na podstawie prostych obliczeń. Jako kryterium jakości analiz zaproponowano funkcję celu, obejmującą dokładność i precyzję pomiarów.

Jednym z krytycznych etapów dla sformułowania problemu symulacyjnego jest dyskretyzacja dziedziny. W pracy zaprezentowano pewne ogólne analogie i związki, jakie występują między dyskretyzacjami skończenie elementowymi a obiektmi i formalizmami topologii. Dostarczają one efektywnej metody analizy struktury przyległości, które mogą być użyte w celu modyfikacji i przebudowy siatek.

One of a most crucial stage in formulation of simulation task is domain discretisation. The main focus of this work lies in connections between discretisation and certain types of topological formalism. They provide a robust method of mesh connectivity analysis, which may be applied in modification and remeshing.
