The aim of this paper is to present the fast cost estimation methods of manufactured elements. It is possible to estimate production costs of new elements if it is possible to find a similar element in database, which contains descriptions of previously produced elements. If similarity of these elements is higher than threshold, their production costs are probably similar too. Method of describing and comparing elements is based on semantic networks and fuzzy logic, Estimation of a new element cost consist of two stages. In the first one the element is described. A user has to input many parameters and features describing the new element. In the second stage the element is compared to all other elements in database. If element similar to the new one are found in the database then production cost of a new element is probably similar to production cost of the founded element. Application of described method is possible if database contain descriptions of large number previously produced elements and precise production costs. The main problem is to find features having highest influence on manufacturing costs. This knowledge enables to set values of weight factors of skeletal semantic network.
