Zaproponowana metoda została oparta na analizie struktury przestrzennej miasta (orga-nizacyjno-prawnej, funkcjonalnej, społecznej i fizjonomicznej) oraz na poszukiwaniu znaków tożsamości przestrzennej miasta przez badanie poczucia tożsamości przestrzennej wśród mieszkańców.

The methods of work is based on: 1) searching for signs of identity of selected towns through analysis of their space structures which are: organizational - legal, functional, social and physionomical ones according to division by Jan Maciej Chmielewski (division of a small town into central, intermidiate and external zones was adopted on the basis of work by Hanna Adamczewska Wejchert) and 2) researching sense of space identity of inhabitants by means of sociological surveys conducted with elites of those towns who have views on space, distinct from mediocre, by virtue of their profession and interests. I searched for signs of identity of Kraśnik - double town consisting of 2 towns - which is a capital of Polish administrative unit of powiat; about 37300 inhabitants; it came into being in 1975 as a result of amerger of the two towns Kraśnik Lubelski and Kraśnik Fabryczny that are 6 km away; Kraśnik Lubelski - private town; founded in 1377; an agricultural town; Kraśnik Fabryczny - its building was begun in 1938 to cater for housing needs of the workers of newly built Factory of Metallurgical Products; in 1954 they formed an industrial town.
