Purpose: The aim of this study was to examine the sitting position (posture) of wheelchair basketball (WB) players who cannot walk and can walk in daily life and to compare them with the able-bodied sedentary individuals. Methods: A total of 22 male individuals, including six WB players who could not walk in daily life, eight WB players who walked in daily life, and eight able-bodied sedentary individuals (control group) were included in the study. Posture analysis of individuals was evaluated using rastersterographic system DIERS formetric 4D device. Kruskal–Wallis test was used to compare the data obtained during posture analysis. The Mann–Whitney U-test was used to determine which group caused the difference in the data determined to be different. Statistical significance level was taken as P < 0.05. Results: Trunk-length, sacrum-width, sagittal and coronal imbalance, trunk-torsion, pelvic-obliqueness, pelvic-torsion, pelvic-inclination and fleche-cervicale were found to be values similar in the three groups (P > 0.05). It was determined that the lumbar lordosis and thoracic kyphosis angles were different between the groups, and the lumbar lordosis and thoracic kyphosis angles of the WB players who could not walk in daily life were higher than those of the WB players who walked in daily life and the control group (P < 0.05). Conclusions: Based on the results of our study, we suggest evaluating the sitting postures of WB players and rehabilitating WB players, especially those who cannot walk in daily life, with posture corrective exercises aimed at reducing and normalizing thoracic kyphosis.

The paper deals with reducing vibrations transmitted from electric golf cart wheels to the seat and the seated person. These vibrations appear while driving a golf cart on uneven terrain of a golf course. This problem can be solved by using the elastic and damping link between the cart frame and seat, which is tightly connected to the electric power battery. A mathematical calculation is used to evaluate the designed solution in which the golf cart is defined as a system of masses connected with elastic and damping links. The result of the designed solution’s mathematical description provides a reference step response of the golf cart seat.

For almost 30 years TAPS has constantly been looking for new solutions and implementing them in the field of traveling by public transport. Since the company’s inception, its primary goals has been to develop a wide variety of passenger seats. They are all characterized by high comfort and ergonomics which are beyond that of basic passenger seats whose standards are specified in the UIC norms.

The article includes the description of fire in the passenger carriage in the Poland and in the world and the chart the spread of fire in the car caused by inflammation of the seat. Materials for the study were taken from the carriage (production 1990) and have been tested according to ISO standards Materials Fire Properties Testing Laboratory in terms of a smoldering cigarette, action of the small flame of a match and the resulting smoke, toxicity according to the design of the new European standard ISO 45545. The results of the study are described.

Properties of supporting surfaces of a seat have an influence on postural control. Centre of pressure (COP) displacement parameters reflect both the balance controlling process and movements of the centre of a mass of entire body. The subjects of the study were 9 healthy men. A seat cushion was examined with a 2-force platform setup. Force exertion at a seat pan and feet and COP displacement at a seat pan were measured to analyse postural control. Analysis of variance determined the differences in postural control depending on a cushion type among the subjects. Significant differences in COP displacement parameters were in COP trajectory length, medio-lateral COP displacement and COP velocity. The results of the study showed that foam cushion ensures better postural control.
