Elements of the tramway track that require special attention in the design and maintenance of the tramway infrastructure are sharp curves (curves with small radii). In such places, there are a number of unfavourable operational problems, which are discussed in the article below. It describes the characteristics of such geometric elements and analyses the interaction of the wheel-rail system. Moreover, the most important operational problems are presented, such as the wear of wheels and tramway rails, the buckling of the rails, and noise and vibrations occurring during the passage of the tram. Methods of reducing unfavourable phenomena occurring on curves in the tramway infrastructure were also highlighted.

W referacie omówiono zagadnienie stateczności toru bezstykowego oraz przedstawiono analizę stateczności w przypadku toru położonego na odcinku prostym oraz w łuku kołowym o małym promieniu. W szczególności zajęto się problematyką zmiennego oporu poprzecznego podsypki (jej lokalnego osłabienia), oraz wpływu tego zjawiska na ścieżkę równowagi toru bezstykowego. Przeanalizowano wpływ różnych wartości oporów poprzecznych podsypki, przy ustalonych pozostałych parametrach nawierzchni. Określono wpływ względnej długości odcinka z osłabionym oporem na temperaturę ekwiwalentną.

The paper discusses the issue of stability of the continuous welded rail (CWR) and presents the analysis of stability in the case of a track located in a straight and track in a sharp curve. In particular, the problem of variable lateral ballast resistance (its local decrease) has been addressed, and the effect of this phenomenon on the path of equilibrium of the CWR track. The impact of different values of lateral ballast resistance has been analyzed, while other parameters of the track have been fixed.
