W artykule podjęto próbę prezentacji krajobrazu osadniczego na terenie Egiptu w okresie pre- oraz wczesnodynastycznym. Zagadnienia poruszane w tekście odnoszą się do procesów związanych z osadnictwem i urbanizacją rozpatrywanych pod względem uwarunkowań regionalnych (zarówno środowiskowych jak i krajobrazowych) oraz społecznych (instytucjonalnych, religijnych i ekonomicznych). Rozważania dotyczące procesów osadniczych uzupełnione są kilkoma przykładami obrazującymi założenia przedstawione w części teoretycznej.

This article is an attempt to present the settlement landscape in Egypt during Preand Early Dynastic Period. Issues addressed in the text refer to the processes associated with settlement and urbanization considered in terms of regional conditions (both environmental and landscape) and social(institutional,religious and economic). Thoughts concerning settlement processes are supported by several examples which are representing assumptionsfrom the theoretical part of this very paper.

In 2019, two partially damaged features linked to the late phase of the Mierzanowice culture were examined during a short rescue survey in Dobranowice, Kraków district. A fragmentarily preserved human skeleton was discovered at the bottom of one of the pits. Aerial prospection established that the two examined features are part of an extensive Early Bronze Age settlement, perfectly legible in a highly eroded ploughed field. The site had not been previously recorded. It belongs to a settlement micro-region abundant in settlement and funerary finds of the Mierzanowice culture. The results of the research indicate that the archaeological resources of the Lesser Poland Upland are still insufficiently known and that systematic surveys using aerial photography should be undertaken.
