Impact of COVID-19 on various areas of service operation in manufacturing companies: a pilot study

All manufacturers were affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. It can be assumed that producers were affected as much as the service operation field (based on company categories). This article aims to ascertain how COVID-19 affected various areas of service operations in manufacturing companies. So far, no literature is available identifying the impact of COVID-19 on various areas of service operations by current manufacturers. An electronic questionnaire was prepared and sent to the manufacturers. The questionnaire was completed by 88 respondents from four selected industrial areas. The findings show no statistically significant differences in the perception of the COVID-19 impact on various areas of service operations in manufacturing companies based on CZ-NACE, the number of employees, the type of customers and the type of services provided to products. However, in the area of the type of services, one statistically significant difference was found in the statement related to increasing interest in engaging in cooperation with suppliers in the field of smart services. Theoretical implication contributes to understanding the impact of COVID-19 on manufacturers in various areas of service operation. First, the research did not reveal any statistically significant difference in manufacturing companies sorted by their CZ-NACE, the number of employees and the predominant customers in the areas of service operations. It can be considered that the companies were hit by COVID-19 very similarly. Second, the research revealed statistically significant differences in the area of processing results according to the type of services, and in this case, only in the area of increasing interest in engaging in the cooperation with suppliers in the field of smart services. From a managerial viewpoint, this paper contributes to the field of impact of COVID-19 on areas of service operation in manufacturing companies.

The development of Coiled Tubing as we know it today dates back to the early 1960's, and it has become an integral component of many well service and workover applications. While the initial development of coiled tubing was spurred by the desire to work on live wellbores, speed and economy have emerged as key advantages for application of CT. In addition, the relatively small footprint and short rig-up time make CT even more attractive for drilling and workover applications. In addition, modern CT strings provide sufficient rigidity and strength to be pushed/pulled through highly deviated or horizontal wellbores. In April 2019, Exalo Drilling S.A. performed a job for PGNiG S.A. with cleanup of un-tubular section in one of the horizontal wells using a Coiled Tubing Unit equipped with a 1 ¾” CT pipe. That was a well with a final depth of 4800m MD (3583m TVD) and a horizontal section length of over 1000m, which is entirely located in the un-pipe section under the shoe of 7” pipes. Design works shown that the use of CT with 1 ¾” diameter in this case may prevent the achievement of the final depth. Due to such technical limitations, work began on the selection of appropriate technologies that would allow for the smooth implementation of this project. The first element to reduce the friction coefficient was the use of Friction Reducers for the fluid used during operation. This allowed both to reduce the frictional resistance at the contact between the CT and the walls of the extraction pipes in the well and significantly reduced the hydraulic resistance during the operation. An additional aspect to increase the possibilities of RIH to the bottom of the well in such a long horizontal section was the use of specialized downhole tools. In this case, the NOV Agitator™ was used, which significantly improved the possibilities when working in the horizontal section. This tool, causing the delicate vibrations of a set of downhole tools, reduces friction and significantly improves weight transfer and improves control over the front tool (milling cutter), reducing friction vibrations. This increased the possibilities associated with the reach, and prevented the coil from "getting stuck" in the hole. Properly selected technology for carrying out this job allowed for its smooth implementation using a CT string with 1 ¾” diameter.

The industrial activity and consumption habits are using the natural resources disproportionately over the time. Meanwhile, waste generation is increasing too fast, causing continuous accumulation of waste in landfills and contamination to the atmosphere. Decoupling economic growth and rising living standards from waste generation is urgent for our survival. The objective of this article is to provide an overview of the environmental problem that European Union (EU) is facing and how can change the business model in industries to prosper in the society without detriment to future generations. In this way, this document describes the lines of action to achieve sustainable economic models, as well as some examples of new business framed within the circular economy, and how are being implemented in Spain, as a member country in EU, with the purpose of contribute to the common improvement.

Działalność przemysłowa i skala konsumcji zużywają zasoby naturalne w sposób obfity w czasie (lawinowy). Jednocześnie, wytwarzanie odpadów zwiększa się zbyt szybko, powodując ciągłe nagromadzenie ich na składowiskach i zanieczyszczenie środowiska. Oddzielenie wzrostu gospodarczego i rosnących standardów życia od wytwarzanie odpadów jest pilną kwestią dla naszego przetwarzania. Celem tego artykułu jest dostarczenie generalnej wizji problemu środowiskowego, przed którym stoi Unia Europejska (UE) oraz jak można zmienić model interesu przemysłowego (model biznesowy w przemyśle) aby prosperować w społeczeństwie bez szkody dla przyszłych pokoleń. Dokument ten opisuje kierunki działań na rzecz osiągnięcia modeli ekonomicznych zrównoważonego rozwoju a także przykłady nowych interesów zawartych w gospodarce o obiegu zamkniętym, oraz sposób ich wdrażania w Hiszpani jako kraju członkowskiego UE w celu przyczynienia się do wspólnej poprawy.

W artykule opisano rozwiązania techniczne współczesnych instalacji stosowanych w budownictwie. Charakterystyka techniczna instalacji w budynkach odnosi się do różnych źródeł wytwarzania ciepła dla potrzeb ogrzewania budynku i przygotowania ciepłej wody użytkowej. W opisie technicznych rozwiązań instalacji przedstawiono również dostępne materiały, jak rury, armatura odcinająca, regulacyjna, zabezpieczająca i kontrolno-pomiarowa, a także pompy cyrkulacyjne. W nawiązaniu do stosowanych materiałów instalacyjnych zaprezentowano potencjalne zagrożenia w eksploatacji instalacji przy braku profesjonalnej obsługi i konserwacji podczas użytkowania budynku.

The article describes the issues of technical solutions to contemporary installations used in modern buildings. Technical characteristics of installation systems refer to various sources of heat for building heating and domestic hot water. Description of the technical installation solutions also presents available materials, such as pipes, shutoff valves, regulatory, safety, control and measurement, as well as circulation pumps. In reference to the applicable installation materials there are presented potential threats in operation of the system in the case of the absence of professional service and maintenance during building exploitation.

Intensywny rozwój rolnictwa oraz jego mechanizacja spowodowały zapotrzebowanie na tworzenie programów komputerowych wspomagających pracę rolników. Oprócz programów do zarządzania gospodarstwem rolnym, zapisywania terminów oraz używanych środków chemicznych, ważne są też inne, często nie brane pod uwagę przez wszystkich użytkowników maszyn rolniczych. W niniejszej pracy poruszono kwestie związane z oprogramowaniem komputerowym służącym serwisom maszyn rolniczych. Celem pracy było zaprojektowanie i stworzenie oprogramowania pod nazwą SMR (Serwis Maszyn Rolniczych), przeznaczonego do wspomagania zarządzania serwisem maszyn i urządzeń eksploatowanych w rolnictwie. Program przewidziany jest do zastosowania w mniejszych warsztatach, zajmujących się serwisowaniem sprzętu rolniczego. Umożliwi on planowanie pracy w długim terminie, zapewni funkcjonalność i bezpieczeństwo zapisanych danych. Baza danych zawiera informacje o kliencie, posiadanych przez niego urządzeniach oraz zleceniach napraw poszczególnych urządzeń. Prace nad programem były konsultowane z istniejącymi serwisami, w celu dostosowania jego funkcjonalności oraz aby uniknąć stworzenia narzędzi, które nie byłyby używane lub byłyby używane bardzo rzadko.

Intense development and mechanization of agriculture have caused a demand for creating software solutions that support the work of farmers. In addition to programs for farm management, keeping schedules and logs of used chemicals, other software, often not taken into account by all users of agricultural machinery, is also important. This paper addresses issues related to computer software used by agricultural machinery service companies. The aim of the study was to design and develop software called SAM (Service of Agricultural Machinery), designed to support service management of machines and devices operating in agriculture. The program is intended for use in smaller workshops, dealing with the servicing of agricultural equipment. It allows long term work planning and provides the functionality and security of the stored data. The database contains customer information which include machines and devices owned by the client and their individual service orders. The works on the program were consulted with existing service companies, in order to adapt it’s functionality and to avoid the creation of tools that would not be used, or would be used very rarely.

Der erste Teil beschreibt den aktuellen Stand der Transportdienstleistungen Finanzierungen in der Slowakischen Republik und die Risikoanalyse, die im Zusammenhang mit Abschluß des Dienstleistungsvertrags in der Sicherstellung der Verkehrsleistungen ist. W artykule przedstawiono podstawy marketingowego ujęcia wizerunku marki a także analizę opartą na danych wtórnych, zawierającą postrzeganie wizerunku marek samochodów osobowych, liczbę powiadomień w ramach kampanii naprawczych przeprowadzonych na terenie Polski w latach 2009…2013 z podziałem na sześć obszarów (układów) pojazdów, a także analizę najmniej i najbardziej awaryjnych modeli samochodów. W rezultacie pozwoliło to na porównanie usterkowości wyodrębnionych układów w stosunku do raportu TÜV, dotyczącego usterkowości samochodów używanych. Dzięki temu możliwe było zestawienie postrzeganego wizerunku marki samochodów z ich rzeczywistą awaryjnością zachodzącą w wyniku błędów na etapie projektowania, luk jakości na etapie produkcji (kampanie naprawcze) oraz użytkowania (usterkowość). Przeprowadzona analiza ma charakter pilotażowy. Kierunku dalszych badań należy upatrywać w ich interdyscyplinarnym poszerzeniu i zbadaniu korelacji między liczbą akcji serwisowych, usterkowością pojazdów a wizerunkiem marki zmierzonym metodami właściwymi dla nauk społecznych.

In the paper, basics of marketing approach to the brand image are presented. Then analysis based on secondary data, including perception of the image of the vehicle make, the number of the notifications within service campaigns in Poland in 2009…2013 broken down into six systems of the vehicle is made, followed by analysis of the most and the least reliable vehicles. It allowed to compare the defect rate of each of the six systems of the vehicle to the TÜV report, describing the defect rate of the used vehicles. Thanks to this, it was possible to set the perceived image of the vehicle make against their real unreliability resulting from design errors, quality gaps in production process (service campaigns) and use (defect rate) Presented analysis is of initial character. The possible direction of further research should be its interdisciplinary widening and the examination of correlation between the number of service campaigns, defect rate and the image of the vehicle make, measured with the use of methods characteristic of social sciences.

Zawarto w niej także zapisy dotyczące obowiązków podmiotów wykorzystujących i sprzedających te substancje oraz urządzenia, które je zawierają. W ramach cyklu: „Akademia dobrych praktyk w klimatyzacji”, w niniejszym artykule chciałbym przybliżyć w pigułce ustawy szczególnie istotne w kontekście klimatyzatorów oraz osób zajmujących się dystrybucją i serwisem tych urządzeń.

The article is based on data and analysis of the results of the calculations of the flow of material resources for the maintenance and repair of machinery and equipment of cattle farms and facilities in the Republic of Belarus from 80-90-ies of XX century to the present day. The paper sets out the methodology and developed standards of resource consumption per conventional unit of complexity of modern staffs of technical service. The importance and relevance of the topic is directly dictated by the need to find solutions to economic problems for cheaper livestock production and as a way of solving this problem - the use of standards in the maintenance of livestock equipment in order to save material resources for livestock farms and complexes in the present conditions of the free market.

Статья основана на данных и результатах проведенного анализа расчетов расхода материальных ресурсов на техническое обслуживание и ремонт машин и оборудования животноводческих ферм и комплексов в Республике Беларусь , начиная с 80-90-х годов ХХ века и по сегодняшний день . В статье изложена методика и разработаны нормативы расхода ресурсов на одну условную единицу категории сложности для современных служб технического сервиса . Важность и актуальность затронутой темы напрямую продиктована необходимостью изыскания экономических вариантов решения задач по удешевлению производства продукции животноводства и как один из путей решения этой задачи – использование нормативов в техобслуживании животноводческой техники в целях экономии материальных ресурсов на животноводческих фермах и комплексах в современных условиях свободного рынка.

This paper presents an example application of a software program developed using the programming language VBA and designed for modelling queuing systems in the field of transport. The program enables users to quantitatively determine the indicators of the queuing systems. In order to show the program's capabilities and how it can be used, two scenarios have been considered - modelling single-server and multi-server queuing systems of type M/M/l and M/M/S, respectively, having a Poisson incoming flow of requests and exponentially distributed service times.
