Web services are intended to enable interoperability between heterogeneous distributed systems. Although the technology has been widely adopted and accepted, there are still differences between runtime platforms in exception structure and handling. This results in difficulties in effective handling of exceptions during Web services invocation. The paper presents a solution that enables coordinated exception handling between different environments, which involves communication between the client and server to exchange exceptional information and invocation of defined handling functions. The functions are supplied by dedicated libraries that extend heterogeneous runtime platforms. Additionally, IDE environments are augmented with facilities for development of Web services exception processing code. An implementation of the solution for IBM WebSphere Application Server and Microsoft Internet Information Server is presented

Agentspace is an emerging environment resulting from process automation in the Internet and the Web. It is supposed that autonomous software (mobile) agents provide the automation. The agents realize goals delegated to them by their human masters. Interoperability is crucial to assure meaningful interaction, ccommunication and cooperation between heterogenous agents and heterogenous services. In order to realize the goals, the agents must create, manage and reconfigurate complex workflows. Usually, a workflow integrates a number of heterogenous services. Our research aims at extracting a minimum that is necessary and sufficient for providing transparency between users and services, i.e. for joining applications as services to agentspace on the one hand and for using and integrating them by heterogenous services. For this very purpose we introduce a new concept of agent architecture as well as the new agent mobility form called soul migration.

Przestrzeń agentowa jest wyłaniającym się środowiskiem powstającym przez automatyzację procesów zachodzących w Internecie i na WWW. Jest powszechnie przyjęte, że ta automatyzacja ma być realizowana poprzez mobilnych software'owych agentów. Agentspace jest realizacją tej automatyzacji; jest to infrastruktura typu middleware. W ramach tej infrastruktury wprowadziliśmy nową architekturę agenta jak również zaproponowaliśmy nową formę migracji agenta nazwaną przez nas soul migration.
