The mass-customization trend as flexible production philosophy has been adopted by many industries as a reaction to the fast changing customer demand environment. In relation to that mixed-model production (MMP) is a possibility for increasing flexibility, especially in the assembly department. However, many apparel companies have failed in their transition from traditional manufacturing to new, flexible manufacturing, which makes it difficult for them to be selected as suppliers who are capable of MMP. In most of the studies that have been done before, the problem of supplier selection was based on productivity and cost as the main selection criteria. As an alternative solution this research presents a new group of criteria for supplier selection with respect to the goal of MMP. The methodology of combining the analytical hierarchy process (AHP) with the support of the commercial software package Expert Choice and cluster analysis (CA) is proposed in this study. The results obtained present a new group of criteria, ranked by their importance, that the supplier needs to fulfil in order to be selected for MMP. Furthermore the large number of available suppliers was grouped into four clusters based on their similar characteristics by using CA. Finally the most acceptable cluster for MMP was selected using AHP. The methodology presented in this study can support the apparel industry in better decision making in the process of selecting the best group of suppliers for mixed-model production.

W wielu przemysłach wprowadzono system zindywidualizowanej produkcji masowej jako reakcję na szybko zmieniające się wymagania konsumentów. Dotychczas selekcja dostawców oparta była na produktywności i analizie kosztów. Ten artykuł prezentuje alternatywne rozwiązanie z wyborem nowej grupy kryteriów. Przedstawiono metodologię połączenia metody hierarchicznej analizy z pakietem Expert Choice i analizą klastrów. W proponowanej metodzie dostawcy zostali podzieleni na cztery klastry na podstawie podobieństwa charakterystyk. W efekcie najbardziej akceptowalny klaster zostaje wybrany przy zastosowaniu metody hierarchicznej analizy. Metoda ta może wspomóc prawidłowe funkcjonowanie przemysłu odzieżowego.

The selection of third party logistics (3PL) providers is an important issue for enterprises to outsource their logistics business. In this paper, a new integrated model is put forward for selecting 3PL providers based on support vector machine (SVM) and fuzzy analytic hierarchy process (FAHP). In the first stage, the support vector machine (SVM) is used to classify the primary 3PL provider samples into four types which are excellent, good, medium and bad respectively. Then we can obtain the excellent samples which are the candidates for the second stage selection. In the second stage, the FAHP is used to evaluate the selected excellent samples in the first stage, so we can obtain the sorting results for the excellent samples and the optimal samples. The results of the case study show that the model is reasonable and effective and it can provide an important reference for enterprises to select 3PL providers.

In today's world where intensive competition exists between enterprises, it is of great importance to work in cooperation with the right suppliers. Selection of the right suppliers is a significant factor in the success of enterprises. In the selection of the best supplier (s), the strengths and weaknesses of potential suppliers should be taken into consideration. Many qualitative and quantitative criteria are included in this selection process as well as the decision-maker. One of the issues that leaves the decision maker in a difficult position is selecting the most appropriate one from the alternatives available, as traditional methods may not produce a realistic solution in this process. However, multicriteria decision making methods facilitate the process of finding a solution and enable decision makers to reach the right decisions. In this study, the fuzzy TOPSIS method, which is one of the multi-criteria decision making methods, is used in this problem area to select the most appropriate supplier of garment 'X' operating in Turkey. It is detected through analyses conducted in line with the results obtained. The ranking of the three supplier firms determined by firm X are as follows in terms of closeness index values: supplier 1, supplier 3 and supplier 2.

Dla uzyskania powodzenia w prowadzeniu przedsiębiorstw bardzo ważna jest współpraca z odpowiednimi dostawcami. Decyduje o tym szereg kryteriów, które powinny być wzięte pod uwagę. Wybór oparty na tradycyjnych metodach analizy może być trudny i zawodny, dletego też zaproponowano nową multikryterialną metodę doboru opartą na analizie zbiorów rozmytych. Analizę porównawczą przeprowadzono porównując trzech zróżnicowanych dostawców.

The method is constructed for local supply network. The network consists of the manufactures of component parts, the assembly plants, and the final customers. The method is used for selection of the manufactures of component parts - for all assembly plants. The linear mathematical models of mixed integer programming are used in this method. The minimization of supply chain service costs are regarded in the described method. The schedules of transport tasks are constructed for transport between the selected manufactures of component parts and the assembly plants. Results of computational experiments with the proposed method are compared. Two cases are compared: the first - where interests of all supply network are regarded, and the second - where each assembly plant is treated separately.

Celem artykułu jest propozycja sposobu zamodelowania problemu wyboru dostawców przy zmiennym zapotrzebowaniu. Model uwzględnia liczebność dyspozycyjnej floty oraz jej parametry eksploatacyjne. Jako kryterium optymalizacyjne przyjęto minimalizację łącznego kosztu zakupu towaru od wszystkich dostawców. Funkcjonowanie modelu zilustrowano przykładem dostaw skroplonego gazu zbiornikowcami do terminalu w Świnoujściu.

The aim of this article is to present the model of a problem of suppliers selection taking into account a variable demand. The size of the dispositional fleet and its operational parameters are taken into consideration in the supply model. Minimization of the total cost of purchasing from all suppliers is adopted as the optimization criterion. The model functioning is illustrated by an example of the liquefied natural gas supply to the terminal in Świnoujście.
