Eksploatacja selektywna złóż jest skutkiem zmiennego górotworu, wymagań odbiorców, jak i sezonowości pracy powodowanej warunkami klimatycznymi. Stosowanie eksploatacji selektywnej prowadzi do zmiany organizacji pracy w kopalni i zmniejsza ogólną wydajność.

Selective extraction of deposits is generally used in surface mining. It involves the homogenization (averaging) of production streams or their differentiation (diversification). It results from changeable rock mass, requirements of customers, as well as seasonal character of work caused by climate conditions. Changeable properties of rock mass during the exploitation require such a management of technological process of extraction and transportation as to finally provide the averaged product required by a customer. The differentiation of production streams occurs when it is appropriate to separate them into two or more lines, while each of them corresponds to the specific requirements of customers. Changeable weather conditions require the diversification of mineral and waste rock mining at different times of year. The use of selective mining influences work organization in mines and reduces their overall performance. The paper presents some examples of selective mining and quantitative indicators of their evaluation.
