The process of pyrolysis is investigated in this paper. The pyrolysis results of two samples: waste tyres and rubber at different heating rates (10, 20, 50 K/min), were compared. In other experiments the degradation of two pyrolysis products, char and oil was examined. The kinetic study using the thermogravimetry equipment (TG) was done, which allowed determination of the kinetic mechanism of the process. The elemental analysis of the samples was performed.

Wreck of a car is treated as a waste stream when vehicles are shredded to recover metals. Wreck of a car is composed mostly of plastics, foam and rubber. Due to such a composition, pyrolysis of these materials appear to offer many advantages as a resource recovery option. This study deal with pyrolysis of some wreck of a car at 650 °C in semiindustrials scale screw kiln reactor with a feed rate of 5 kg/h.

Wrak samochodu jest traktowany jako strumień odpadów, kiedy złom samochodowy jest strzępiony w celu odzyskania metalu. Wrak samochodowy zbudowany jest głównie z plastików, pianek i gumy. Z powodu takiego składu piroliza tych materiałów może zaoferować wiele korzyści jako sposób odzyskiwania zasobów. Badania te związane są z pirolizą wraku samochodowego w temperaturze 650 °C w skali półprzemysłowej w śrubowym piecu do suszenia z szybkością zasilania 5 kg/h.

Scrap tyres, classified as priority waste stream by EU Commission, present disposal problems. According to recently prepared the EU Landfill Directive dumping will not more be allowed. There is a need for optimisation of the choice between material and energy valorisation in relation to the existing secondary raw material market. The quantity and quality of the end-products depends mainly on the process parameters. Qualifying the end products (char and oils) is necessary in order to fit with the market and to reach the best adequation with the demand. The study shows the evaluation of different combinations of unit processes to achieve marketable secondary raw material.

Opony zużyte, sklasyfikowane przez Komisję Europejską jako priorytetowy strumień odpadów, stwarzają problemy ze składowaniem. Zgodnie z ostatnio przygotowaną dyrektywą (EU Landfill Directive) zabronione zostanie tworzenie zwałowisk opon. W związku z tym istnieje konieczność dokonywania wyboru między przetwarzaniem materiału a wykorzystaniem go jako energii, zależnie od potrzeb rynku. Na podstawie badań oceniono różne układy procesów jednostkowych służących do otrzymywania produktów o wartości handlowej.

Przedstawiono nową technologię dewulkanizacji, polegającą na mieszaniu granulatu otrzymanego ze zużytych opon z aktywatorem, modyfikatorem, katalizatorem i czynnikiem neukleofilowym. Otrzymany regenerat charakteryzuje się dobrymi właściwościami fizycznymi.

The new devulcanization technology was presented. The RU-Rubber process is based on mixing tyre crumb with tailor-made: activator, modifier, catalyst and nucleofilic agent. The reclaimed rubber produced through this process has good physical properties.
