Changes that took place in the country (Poland) after 1989 led to beneficial results in many areas of social life. One such area is the department of national defence. However to answer the question about their nature, direction and size the studies are needed. For this reason, the department of national defence is the subject of many studies, surveys and case studies, including those focusing on innovation management. The purpose of the article was to show how the results of research work are used. Particular attention was paid to formulate proposals that would give the answer on how to make effective use of scientific potential, which is administered by the department of national defence. A significant part of the proposals were formulated on the basis of ongoing research. In this paper the statistics were used for the purpose, replacing cumbersome and extensive empirical research.

W artykule przedstawiono główne kierunki metrologicznych prac naukowo-badawczych prowadzonych w Instytucie Podstaw Elektroniki WAT. Aktualnie wykonywane prace dotyczą: badań i modelowania struktur półprzewodnikowych, identyfikacji pól fizycznych, pomiarów wielkości mechanicznych, prac na użytek elektromedycyny, metod przetwarzania i analizy sygnałów, diagnostyki technicznej w zakresie diagnozowania systemów antropotechnicznych i aplikacji optoelektroniki w technice pomiarowej. Prace badawcze są wykonywane w ramach działalności statutowej, jako tzw. prace naukowe własne oraz jako projekty badawcze finansowane z grantów Komitetu Badań Naukowych. IPE współpracuje z wieloma instytucjami wojskowymi i cywilnymi w kraju, i zagranicą, głównie we Francji i Anglii.

The purpose of this paper is to show the main directions of metrological works performed in the Institute of Electronic Fundamentals of Military University of Technology. At present the works concentrate on following problems: investigation and modelling of semiconductor structures, identification of physical fields, measurements of mechanical quantities, works to be used for medical purposes, data analysis and processing, diagnostics of anthropotechnical systems and application of optoelectronics to measurement techniques. Research works are carried out as internal works of the Institute or granted by State Committee for Scientific Research. The Institute co-operates with many institutions in Poland and abroad, mainly in France and England.
