Filtrates accumulated at the foot of sanitary waste landfill (SWL) are the main source of surface and underground water pollution and soil layer contamination. Analysis of results of the analytic measuring of Lviv SWL filtrates shows high level its contamination. The presented scheme of filtrates neutralization by swap-out and dispersion in SWL area extent or in-massive implantation with filtrate-collection reconstruction gives opportunity to reduce negative effect on the environment.

In the paper we have considered one of the greatest objects studied within the framework of the project "Polish-Ukrainian cooperation centre for waste landfill gas control", namely: the Lviv sanitary waste landfill. It is situated in the village of Velyki Grybovychy, the Zhovkva District. The area of observation differs by complexity and variety of hydrogeological, lithology of water-containing rocks, geomorphologic and physical-geographical features. Rivers polluted with filtrates from the Lviv solid waste disposal flow into the Buh River so into the basin of Baltic Sea. Close to surface occurrence, high sensitivity to anthropogenic pollution due to natural unprotectivity are known to be the important peculiarity of underground waters.
