The western part of the Middle Triassic Ridge is cut by two narrow gorges. At present the Odra River is running through the western gorge in the vicinity of Krapkowice and a small stream, right-bank tributary of this river, through the eastern one, passing 1–2 km to the east of the former. These erosive forms were hitherto interpreted as epigenetic gorges of the Odra. A row of elongated hills built of gravel and sands is found at southeasterly prologation of the eastern erosive gorge. The field study carried out at a site located at one of these hills indicates direct connections and subglacial origin of these erosive forms and hills. Most probably the eastern gorge represents a fragment of a subglacial tunnel valley, which continues northwards into the zone of the present-day Odra channel. The hills located at prolongation of the gorges are interpreted as eskers. Because of the high similarity, the western gorge valley is most probably also of subglacial origin. The studied part of the subglacial drainage system most probably originated in result of an outburst flood of subglacial water temporarily stored at the bottom of the ice-sheet. The tunnel valley and eskars were formed during Odranian glaciation.

Rynna jeziora Jasień to największa rynna polodowcowa wschodniej części lobu bytowskiego fazy pomorskiej ostatniego zlodowacenia. Geologiczne prace badawcze wykonywane na tym obszarze na potrzeby realizacji arkusza Pomysk Wielki Szczegółowej Mapy Geologicznej Polski w skali 1:50 000 doprowadziły do rozpoznania skomplikowanej budowy podłoża osadów czwartorzędowych. Wmiejscu współczesnej rynny jeziora Jasień od zlodowacenia sanu poprzez kolejne zlodowacenia istniała rynna lodowcowa. Krawędzie ograniczające to kopalne obniżenie były reprodukowane w morfologii terenu w czasie zlodowaceń środkowopolskich i zlodowacenia wisły.Ważną rolę w historii geologicznej Pomorza odegrał obszar wyniesionego do ponad 100mn.p.m. stropu utworów neogenu, znajdujący się obecnie pod obszarem bawernickiej wysoczyzny polodowcowej, której powierzchnia przekracza rzędną 200 m n.p.m. Przebiegał tędy lododział pomiędzy lobem Odry i lobem Wisły fazy pomorskiej ostatniego zlodowacenia.

Research carried out within the framework of the Detailed Geological Map of Poland 1:50,000 project, Pomysk Wielki sheet, has allowed to recognize the geological structure of the eastern part of the Bytów ice lobe. The lobe existed during the Pomorze phase of the last glacial period. In order to further our understanding of the older geology it is necessary to put a few deep boreholes in the provisionally mapped buried valleys, so that the pre-Quaternary deposits can be reached. Hopefully, this would also allow to recognize sediments older than the Great Interglacial. Application of geophysical prospecting, and high-resolution seismic reflection in particular, is recommended to address the issue of tectonic control on the sub-Quaternary relief. In this way, dislocation zones in the sub-Quaternary bedrock might be detected and their possible influence on the geometry of the top surface of pre-Quaternary strata assessed.

The northern part of Lubusz Lakeland is the area of a various relief, where are clearly marked morphological by varied Ośno-Sulechów Hills and a flat Torzym Plain, situated farther south. Both units are cut by deep valleys used by rivers and lakes. The relief generally arose at the end of South-Polish Glaciations. In the first stage, push moraine[Ośno-Sulechów Hills] formed of folded Paleogene and Neogene and Quaternary sediments. The extent of the vertical Cenozoic sediment movements presumably exceeds 250 m. On the Torzym Plain, there were much less disturbed Paleogene and Neogene sediments in the form of a big beaming folding structures. In spite of the lack of Paleogene and Neogene convincing evidence, it’s not possible to reject tectonic movements during formation Ooeno-Sulechów Hills and Torzym Plain. The younger glaciations modified earlier elements of this relief to a small extent. During the next stage of the South-Polish Glaciations [Sanian] very deep subglacial valleys were eroded, which probably were connected with the drainage system of central and northern Germany. The valleys cut out the subglacial zone of Ośno-Sulechów Hills and Torzym Plain to the depth of over 160 m b.s.l. Those valleys still existed during the next glaciations and interglacials, as indicated by fluvial and lacustrine sediments of Mazovian Interglacial age, as well as valley sandurs of Pliszka and Ilanka rivers originated during the Weichselian.
