Ludność, na terenie gminy Świebodzin, po II wojnie światowej, wymieniła się. Obecni mieszkańcy są przyjezdnymi lub ich potomkami, zatem nie odziedziczyli kulturowego sposobu użytkowania przestrzeni, którą zastali w pełni ukształtowaną. Nie uczestniczyli w wytwarzaniu swojej przestrzeni, i nie powiązali jej ze sferą znaczeń, pojęć i wyobrażeń. Wydaje się, że poznanie i określenie potrzeb zbiorowości stanowi klucz do określenia relacji pomiędzy przestrzenią publiczną wspólnie użytkowaną, a jego mieszkańcami. Obecnie wsie gminy Świebodzin funkcjonują jako podmiejskie, krajobrazowe osiedla mieszkaniowe i chyba do takiej roli wsi należy się przyzwyczajać.

The current inhabitants of Świebodzin commune have settled there only after the WWII. They did not inherit the culture of using the space they have found in their new home; the space, which was entirely shaped by former German inhabitants. Now the Poles, who were not involved in that creational process, they were not able to tie the existing space with the realm of ideas, notions and meanings. The paper discusses the importance of defining the needs of a community, for describing the relations between the commonly used space, and its inhabitants. The villages encircling Świebodzin are currently changing their character to typical suburban settlements, and this is a trend we should get used to.
