On the convergence of sigmoidal fuzzy grey cognitive maps

Fuzzy cognitive maps (FCMs) are recurrent neural networks applied for modelling complex systems using weighted causal relations. In FCM-based decision-making, the inference about the modelled system is provided by the behaviour of an iteration. Fuzzy grey cognitive maps (FGCMs) are extensions of fuzzy cognitive maps, applying uncertain weights between the concepts. This uncertainty is expressed by the so-called grey numbers. Similarly as in FCMs, the inference is determined by an iteration process which may converge to an equilibrium point, but limit cycles or chaotic behaviour may also turn up. In this paper, based on the grey connections between the concepts and the parameters of the sigmoid threshold function, we give sufficient conditions for the existence and uniqueness of fixed points of sigmoid FGCMs.

In this study, we address the problem of medical diagnosis by applying Fuzzy Cognitive Map (FCM). A distinctive feature of the FCM is its ability to simulate the development of the disease in time. By this simulation, it is possible to predict the severity of the disease by having future knowledge on current medical investigations. For the first time in this paper, we construct an FCM-based classifier dedicated solely to perform medical diagnosis. To learn the FCM, we use an evolutionary algorithm explicitly specifying the newly designed fitness function. Real, publicly available medical data are applied for the validation and evaluation of the proposed approach.

The paper presents the information system for the cognitive analysis and modeling based on fuzzy cognitive map. The system allows to analyze the information of the experts to model complex systems and processes. Describes the structure of the system and the features of the functioning and implementation.

Przedstawiono system informacji do analizy i modelowania poznawczego opartego na rozmytej mapie poznawczej. System pozwala na analizę informacji ekspertów w celu modelowania złożonych systemów i procesów. Opisano strukturę systemu oraz cechy funkcjonowania i realizacji.
