The use of the roadload application in geographical studies of flows generated by individual modes of transport

The purpose of this article is to present the authors' own software for predicting changes in the density and directions of traffic flows and to compare overall results of research on transport accessibility with the results returned in the study of transport accessibility conducted with the software (isochronic accessibility). Developed for research purposes, the authors' application is based on Dijkstra's algorithm, which is classified as one of the greedy ones and does not always return optimum results, even though it is considered to be generally accurate. In the course of the research, it was stated that the implementation of Dijkstra's algorithm in the RoadLoad tool is suitable for studying and prognosing phenomena, under the assumption that there are detailed data on the point of departure and destination for each trip. The tool enables us to research a spatial (cumulated values of network load) as well as time-spatial (network load at virtually any time) dimension of the phenomenon. It cannot be applied, however, without the knowledge of the transport behavior characteristics of the users of the road system.

Procesy integracyjne w Unii Europejskiej oraz globalizacja gospodarki światowej wymuszają działania w zakresie tworzenia, modernizacji oraz utrzymania różnych rodzajów transportu. Dotyczy to w szczególności polskiej gospodarki, która musi nadrabiać zaległości w działalności inwestycyjnej i wdrażaniu nowoczesnych technologii w zakresie metod transportowych. W artykule podjęto tematykę powiązania rozwoju transportu krajowego (szczególnie drogowego tak towarów jak i pasażerów) realizowanego przez podmioty gospodarcze na terenie Polski, z tempem rozwoju gospodarczego Polski w okresie po 1989 roku. Szczególnie uwzględniono przedział czasowy 2003-2010 tj. po przystąpieniu Polski do Unii Europejskiej, w zakresie zmian w polskiej gospodarce przede wszystkim ilościowych tj. PKB, wartości dodanej, inwestycji, dochodów osobistych ludności, spożycia indywidualnego. Analizę przeprowadzono m.in. na podstawie danych opracowanych przez Główny Urząd Statystyczny i publikowanych w Rocznikach statystycznych oraz innych, tematycznych wydawnictwach z badań ciągłych i spisów powszechnych. W analizie zachodzących zmian uwzględniono terytorialne (wojewódzkie) ujęcie zagadnienia.

Integration processes in European Union and globalization of the world economy impose actions in the field of creation, modernization and maintaining high level of different modes of transport. It concerns especially Polish economy which has to catch up for arrears in investment and implementing modern technologies in transport. Country’s economic growth is closely related to national transport (especially road transport both of goods and of persons ). Transformation processes of Polish economy after 1989, EU membership and market facilitation determine priority treatment of transport in Poland. The main objective of the research paper was functioning of transport, with focus on road as well as development conditions . Investigating the matter, special attention was paid to: modes, development directions, service market as wells as conditions concerning transport. The analysis was prepared on the basis of empirical data of Central Statistical Office (CSO).

W artykule przedstawiono istotę transportu wyrobów hutniczych w logistycznym łańcuchu dostaw. Scharakteryzowano główne rodzaje transportu oraz przedstawiono podstawowe kierunki zmian rynku transportowego w hutnictwie.

In the article there was show the essence of transporting the steel industry products in logistic supply chain. The main types of transport were characterized and the basic directions of change of transport market in the steel industry were presented.
