Ostatnie dziesięciolecia historii świata charakteryzowane przez większość badaczy przedstawiane są jako epoka głębokich i szybkich zmian. Przy tym w wypowiedziach tych dostrzega się cechy rodzącej się nowej epoki, rozwój filozoficznych i koncepcyjnych podstaw nowego świata odbywa się równolegle z gwałtownie zachodzącymi zmianami naukowego paradygmatu. W tych warunkach jedyną niezawodną podstawą do zrozumienia nowych czasów staje się dostrzeżenie ewolucji podstawy teoretycznej. Zakłada to możliwość i nawet konieczność wprowadzenia zmian w fundamencie budowanego świata, który okazuje się „katastrofalnie kruchy i zmienny”. Artykuł przedstawia wyniki analizy społeczno-filozoficznej ewolucji pojęcia bezpieczeństwo. Współczesna teoria bezpieczeństwa, chociaż uświadamia sobie swój przedmiot, lecz jest teorią dopiero się formującą. Stąd wydaje się zasadne zdefiniowanie jej metodologicznych założeń, zrozumienie bezpieczeństwa jako ewoluującego procesu. Dla stwarzania teorii bezpieczeństwa jako jednolitego systemu trzeba zdefiniować jego społeczno-kulturowe założenia jako uniwersalnego systemu, stworzonego przez cywilizację. W artykule przedstawiono filozoficzne myśli rozpatrujące pojęcie bezpieczeństwa na przestrzeni wieków w antycznej i współczesnej tradycji teoretycznej.

The last decades of world history described by the majority of researchers are generally presented as an era of profound and rapid transformations. Findings of those researchers point to features of a new era coming to life, and the development of philosophical and conceptual bases of the new world takes place contemporaneously with changes adopted to the scientific paradigm. Consequently it seems that the only infallible basis that would allow comprehending the new era is perceiving the evolution of the theoretical fundamentals. This assumes the possibility and even the necessity of introducing changes to the foundations of the world being built, which proves to be “catastrophically fragile and variable”. The article presents results of social and philosophical analyses of the way that the security concept keeps evolving. Although the contemporary security theory is conscious of its object, it still remains a theory which is still in the process of being formed. Hence this points to the need of formulating definitions of its methodological assumptions and comprehending security as a process that keeps evolving. The establishment of the security theory as a uniform system requires defining its social and cultural assumptions as a universal system, developed by civilisation. The article presents philosophical assumptions analysing the concept of security over the past ages in ancient and contemporary theoretical tradition.

The presented study focuses on the role of applied ethics(cist) in managing the quality of life in the post-risk society. Given that, from an ethical point of view, it is appropriate to reflect the quality of life also through other than quantitative, i.e. objective and therefore also measurable indicator, it is important to be also focused on the action of a person that leads to increasing his/her satisfaction, the feeling of happiness as a subjective indicator. The aim of this study is to point out the importance of ethical parameterization of the quality of life as well as the search for suitable concepts in its fulfilment.
